The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) keeps the Manali-Rohtang highway shut every Tuesday in order to carry out the maintenance work of the highway, the reason why no vehicle is allowed to go beyond Gulaba. However, now, taking steps in line with the demand from tourism stakeholders, and with less traffic burden on this road after opening of the Atal tunnel, the district administration has taken the decision to keep the highway open for vehicular movement on Tuesdays as well.
The Deputy Commissioner further added that since a large number of vehicles are now using the Atal tunnel route, which helped to decongest Rohtang pass, the latest notification has been issued keeping in mind all the said aspects.
