Abhay’s workout regime to play 19-yr-old on screen

In order to look like a 19-year-old college student for the upcoming show 'Silsila Pyar Ka', Abhay Vakil was on a strict weight loss regime.

The actor, who was a bit plump, has cut down and toned his body. “The character was that of a college-goer and they needed a guy who was very lean. The producers were interested in me and apart from losing weight, I also had to tone my body to play the character,” he told us.

Abhay had a heavy workout regime for the last three months and the results impressed the makers. “I had extreme workouts with zero intake of carbs. I stopped eating biscuits, bread and my favourite – pizza – as well as sweets and chocolates. My diet was primarily rich in proteins and green veggies and 10 egg whites a day,” he added.

And he has lost close to 10 kilos so far. The line producer, whose career includes stints as a cameraman and casting director, now aspires to face the camera like his wife. “I don’t want to become fit only for health reasons, but also to try my luck in acting. I have dabbled with a lot of roles behind the camera, but the dance reality show gave me a taste of what it’s like being in front of it. I quite enjoyed the experience. Besides working out and controlling my diet to lose weight, I have also been honing my acting skills.”

Gautam Rode: Erratic shooting hours leaves an actor with little time to work on his body. But Gautam Rode, who is a fitness freak in his real life, devised a new way to stay fit.A part of his personal makeup room had been transformed into a makeshift gym comprising high-end workout machinery.

“Fitness and I are inseparable — since class 10th I've been working out. I've maintained an athletic physique as it suits any role. As a model or an actor, it is important to keep fit and look good. This is something you have to enjoy otherwise with the kind of bizarre working schedules on sets — fitness goes for toss.”

His workout regime: 20 pound to 70 pound dumbbells, benches, lat pulley machine and high low pulley for biceps.

His diet: Gautam is a vegetarian and his meals include mostly sauteed veggies, clear soups, brown rice and yellow dals. He also writes diet charts for his technicians, neighbours, relatives and friends.
