’. Few days back, actress Sandipta Sen, who made her debut with the 2008 show ‘Durga’, introduced the new ‘Durga’ in a promo launched by the channel. Actress Sampurnaa Mandal will be seen playing the lead in the upcoming serial.

’ is aired. Not only that, Sampurnaa, who was a part of ‘Rani Rashmoni’ once, used to play Jagadamba in the show. The actress, who is still in her teens, was widely appreciated for her performance as Jagadamba. Actor Gourab Chatterjee was seen as her on-screen husband in ‘Rani Rashmoni’ and he essayed the male lead character in Durga. Few months back, Sampurnaa left the show leaving her fans disappointed. Actress Roshni Bhattacharyya of ‘Aloy Bhuban Bhora’ fame is currently playing Jagadamba. Sources suggest that the channel which is ready to launch its hit show ‘Durga’, has strategically decided to launch ‘Durga Durgeswari’ at 6.30 pm to give ‘Rani Rashmoni’ a stiff competition.

The period-drama ‘Rani Rashmoni’, featuring Ditipriya Roy in the titular role, was earlier seen in the second spot on the TRP charts. But in the past few weeks, it has slipped from its usual position and ‘Trinayani’ is seen in the second spot. It will be interesting to see how the upcoming show scores on the TRP charts competing with ‘Rani Rashmoni’.

The daily soap Durga, starring Sandipta and Gourab, was an instant hit. The story revolved around a guy, who was tortured by his stepmom. He gets married to a village belle Durga, who is blessed by Maa Durga herself. How Durga helps her husband to live a normal life ending all the evil, made the crux of the storyline. The upcoming daily soap ‘Durga Durgeswari’ will be on similar lines though the cast has been changed, sources suggest.
