A new period-drama based on Dr. Kadambini Ganguly is in the making. The television serial will star Ushasi Ray in the titular role. Dr. Kadambini was the first female doctor, who forced Calcutta Medical College to start admitting female students in the British ruled India. With the help of Dwarakanath Ganguly, Kadambini followed her passion and went on to become a doctor, going against the conservative society. Anandi Gopal Joshi was another Indian woman who was a qualified western medicine practitioner along with Kadambini. A new show hosted by singer-actor Silajit Majumder will soon be launched on a leading Bengali television channel. It is a fun-filled musical program that will feature two singers who will be taken through various rounds, including a face-off. Gaan point will start its journey from February 20. It is directed by Sangit Tewari.

Rajesh Sharma, who is considered as one of the finest actors, is back on Bengali television. The actor is hosting the show ‘Bengal Crime’. The crime-based show premiered yesterday (February 17). According to the makers, the show is based on real-life crime incidents.
