From Sandipta Sen to Ravi Shaw: Actors share their secret to stay mentally fit during lockdown

The nationwide lockdown has been extended till May 3. Many people are finding it hard to stay within 4 walls following which taking care of mental health has become the most important thing now. Our popular television celebrities are no exception since the current situation has affected the entertainment industry too just like other sectors. With no clear indication when the situation will normalise, shoots will start, when they will get their payments, actors are also facing issues in personal lives and trying hard to stay mentally fit. Here are their happiness pills to stay mentally fit…

Sandipta Sen

Taking care of mental and physical health is very important according to Sandipta, who was a student of Psychology. She said, “It is a very crucial time and we need to stay physically and mentally fit. Maintaining a disciplined life is important. Practicing yoga and meditation can help us too. The recent situation might lead us towards an economic crisis. Getting depressed or suffering an anxiety attack thinking about losing a job are normal things. The only way is to divert your mind and stay positive.” Sandipta suggested pursuing hobbies or getting involved in creative things to stay positive. The actress is enjoying family time and has divided household chores among themselves. “At home we have divided our household responsibilities. It helps us to get busy and utilise the time properly. We can also spend time with the elderly people by speaking with them over the phone since they are always inside the home be it a lockdown or not. Speaking with them about childhood memories can do wonders,” she shared with a smile. (Photo: Facebook)

Shoumo Banerjee

The actor has found his solace in music and painting. He is spending time playing Sarod and canvas and colours. He said, “I am spending more time with canvas and colours. I am also practicing Sarod. From my personal experience, it is the best time to concentrate on creative things no matter what the form is. Now that we don’t have to rush anywhere, no one to compete, nothing to prove but keep ourselves happy, it is the right time to unleash our creative sides. Be it music, dance, painting or gardening, you can keep yourself happy with anything you want. We can learn new languages or different art forms from online tutorials. Just remember, for the first time in your life you have got a chance to keep yourself happy and be happy.” (Photo: Facebook)

Ravi Shaw

The model-turned-actor is effectively utilising his lockdown period at home. “I maintain a routine. I wake up timely, workout, watch web series, fly kites in the evening at the roof and enjoy movies with family members. Staying healthy both physically and mentally is very important. Being physically fit helps to have a better immunity power too. I workout at the roof to keep myself healthy,” shared the actor. Ravi is showcasing culinary skills in the kitchen. “It is important to stay engaged during this period. I cook whenever I get time and help mom. Moreover, I have developed a habit of learning new words whenever I come across,” Ravi stated. (Photo: Facebook)

Priya Mondal

The actress has her own recipe to stay positive. She said, “At times I also feel anxious during the lockdown phase thinking about the future. But I know, it is just a testing time and things will normalise soon. We are privileged to have a house and family members by our side. There are many people who have to face much hardship during this period. To stay positive, I read books, watch films, paint bottles and get involved in DIY activities using household stuff. I also spend time on the terrace keeping food grains and water for birds. I also utilise the time to chat with my family and friends. It is the best time to rejuvenate your bonds.”

Adrija Addy Roy

The pretty actress shared her personal experience. “I’m an insomniac and hardy sleep. That’s the reason I need to have a power nap post-lunch. But now with the lockdown, I’m facing problem to fall asleep and mostly staying awake whole night. My key to mental happiness is exercise and yoga. I practice it in the morning. I’m very fond of singing and have learnt it since childhood. I sing, listen to music, chat with my family members to stay happy,” she shared. (Photo: Facebook)

Shreema Bhattacharjee

The chirpy actress has a secret to stay happy. “Old memories can make you happy instantly. I am revisiting old memories looking at photos. Since we don’t get much time to talk to our friends or family members, we should utilise the time to spend more time with them now. If you have your people by your side what else do you do? But there is another secret. I keep pulling my brother’s legs throughout the day. It is my way to stay happy,” the witty actress laughed out loud. (Photo: Facebook)
