The year 2022 has been quite eventful in Bengali industry. Many leading personalities including Bollywood stars like Madhuri Dixit, Suniel Shetty, Janhvi Kapoor made appearances on Bengali TV. Tolly diva Rukmini Maitra, who has already done a Bollywood movie, made her reality TV debut. A number of new shows were launched and some were remade in other languages too. Bengali music reality show ‘Super Singer Season 3’, welcomed Sonu Nigam, Kumar Sanu and Kaushiki Chakraborty as the esteemed judges. It witnessed a successful season and featured many leading stars as guests. The makers had their biggest surprise in store for the gala finale. None other than Madhuri Dixit graced the finale. She made the hearts go ‘Dhak Dhak’ with her charm, grace and million-dollar smile. The eminent actress also paid a tribute to legendary actress Suchitra Sen and performed on ‘Tumi Je Amar’. Winner Sushmita Chakraborty received ‘Super Singer Season 3’s trophy from Madhuri. Fans were in for a big surprise when Bolly diva Janhvi Kapoor made an appearance on Dadagiri, hosted by Sourav Ganguly. In May, the actress flew down to Kolkata to shoot for the special episode. She spoke about her mom Sridevi and dad Boney Kapoor who had once appeared on Dadagiri and stated that now it has come to a ‘full circle’. Janhvi spoke a few lines in Bengali, danced with Dada, enjoyed Rosogolla and simply stole viewers’ hearts.

Tele Academy Awards 2022, organised by the Government of West Bengal to felicitate the outstanding work of the artists and the technicians from Bengali the television fraternity, witnessed a spectacular event. Sourav Ganguly was honoured for his show ‘Dadagiri Unlimied’. He won an award for the best host. The seasoned cricketer who broke records in the field, enjoys massive fanfare for his show. His inning as a celebrity host is hugely successful. Besides him, Ushasie Chakraborty, Indrani Halder, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Sean Banerjee, Sabyasachi Chowdhury, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Annwesha Hazra and many others won different awards under different categories. Several years after his first stint as a celebrity host in ‘Bigg Boss Bangla’, superstar Jeet made a comeback as a host. He hosted ‘Ismart Jodi’, a TV show in which celeb couples participated as contestants. Fans thoroughly enjoyed Jeet’s charismatic presence. The show ended by crowning Sourav Saha and wife Susmita as the winners. Aneek Dhar and Debaleena became the first runner-up and Raja Goswami-Madhubani emerged as the second runner-up. The current season of ‘Dance Dance Junior Season 3’ has been a star-started affair since the beginning. Although Mahaguru Mithun Chakraborty isn’t a part of this season, the makers didn’t shy away from bringing big stars to the show.
