TV show ‘Chuni Panna’ to go off-air

Fans are upset by the news.
A number of Bengali television shows have gone off-air in the past few months. ‘Ekhane Akash Neel’ and recently launched ‘

Kadambini

’, starring Ushasi Ray in the lead, concluded the journey. Now, yet another television show ‘

Chuni Panna

’ is set to go off-air. The shooting is going to wrap up today. It is indeed an emotional moment for the team.

Well, there were rumours making the round that the show is likely to go off-air and the

lead actors Annwesha Hazra

and

Dibyojyoti Dutta

were flooded with fan mails.

‘Chuni Panna’ starring Annwesha and Dibyojyoti as the lead pair, became quite popular right after its launch. Actress Tulika Bose plays a resident ghost. The humorous touch in the script and a strong cast helped the show gain a good viewership. When Bengali television is dominated by saas-bahu sagas and period-dramas ‘Chuni Panna’ brought a breath of fresh air with its simple yet interesting story.

Chuni is a happy-go-lucky girl whose biggest wish is to meet a ghost. Nirbhik aka

Niru

is just opposite of his name and is afraid of ghosts although the place he lives in, has a resident ghost named Panna. Niru’s family is unable to have a peaceful life in presence of Panna who wants them to leave the place.

Panna shows her trick and Chuni’s wish gets fulfilled. She gets married to Nirbhik and finally meets Panna. Initially, Panna gives Chuni a hard time but eventually, they become friends. The interesting bond between a ghost and a human being hasn’t been seen on Bengali television after ‘Bhutu’. This might be the reason, why ‘Chuni Panna’ enjoys a huge fan base irrespective of age bar.
