Jelly Roll is taking on an exciting new role! The 40-year-old country star has officially joined American Idol for its 23rd season as the show’s first-ever Artist in Residence.

The news was announced in a YouTube video featuring Jelly Roll and longtime American Idol host Ryan Seacrest. The Save Me singer couldn’t contain his excitement, exclaiming, “I’m American Idol’s ‘Artist in Residence!’”


Seacrest, 50, asked how it feels to step into this historic role, to which Jelly Roll enthusiastically responded, “It feels good.” The host then praised him, saying, “It feels like you’re shaping America’s future.”


Jelly Roll embraced the responsibility, adding, “And I feel like I’m giving them the energy they need. I’m uplifting and trying to get ‘em goin’!” His infectious enthusiasm didn’t stop there—he playfully picked Seacrest up, threw him over his shoulder, and wrapped the moment with a big hug.
