Looking back at the time when Shah Rukh Khan started his career with TV

Shah Rukh Khan has completed 30 years in showbiz. The actor is known for his power-packed performances and also for bringing romance alive on screen. Interestingly, SRK started his acting journey from the small screen and then went on to charm audiences through his movies. Here's a look at how it all began for King Khan...

SRK's made his TV debut with the show Fauji

Shah Rukh Khan came to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting. That's when he landed a role in a TV show called Fauji, where he played the role of Abhimanyu Rai, who was a soldier. He started shooting for it in 1988 and the show went on air in 1989. The actor made quite an impact and people liked him in this show.

One TV show led to another

His first TV show Fauji led to more work on TV. He was later seen in the television series Circus and after that he did another show named, Idiot in 1992. Little did one know then that he was going to soon become a superstar in Bollywood.

4/7

Did you know that SRK was part of the show Wagle Ki Duniya?

People remember his shows Circus and Fauji, but not many know that Shah Rukh also played part in Wagle Ki Duniya in 1988-90. Apparently, he also played a role in another TV show called Umeed.

5/7

Hosting television shows like KBC and Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?

After his acting stint on TV, he moved to doing films; his first film was Deewana, which was released in June 1992 after which there was no looking back. He went on to do hit films like Dil Wale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Chak De, Devdas and the list goes on. In 2007, he came in place of Amitabh Bachchan to host Kaun Banega Crorepati. He later hosted another TV show Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? In 2011, he returned to television with the show Zor Ka Jhatka: Total Wipeout.

6/7

Once SRK said that he would like to return to TV if films stopped working

In an interview many years ago, he had said, "If my films are under performing, I will return to TV to work here. I'm saying this with utmost humility. Many people including me have risen from television. I'm a living example of TV Ka Dum." He further said, "I started with the small screen. I used to watch Sunday movies at a neighbour's house."

7/7

Becoming a role model for others

Shah Rukh Khan's journey is very inspiring. Without any backing, he came to Mumbai and made it on his own. He was the first TV actor to make it this big in the film industry. Even today, he is an inspiration for every TV actor who aspires to make it in movies.
