Aalisha Panwar
and
Gaurav Bajaj
, who are set to play parents on screen for the first time in '
Meri Gudiya
', were recently in the capital to promote the show. The actors share what prompted them to take up this show, play parents at this early stage in their careers, and more. Gaurav says, “The show is about an actual
gudiya, a doll. The mother’s (played by Aalisha)
soul
enters the doll and she protects our four-year-old daughter.” Adding to this, Aalisha says, “The show is high on emotions and shows mother-daughter love. The love they share is so deep that the mother goes beyond the laws of nature to come back after her death and protect her child.”
Gaurav, who is soon going to become a father in the real life as well, says that the show happened at the right time. He tells us, “My wife is due in December. Maybe I’m just prepping myself to be a parent with this show. Although my daughter in the show is a four-year-old, so there won’t be any sleepless nights or nappy changing, but the bond that a father and his child share will be there.”
When asked whether they were sceptical of ageing on screen, Gaurav tells us, “I think playing a parent at an early stage in the career is a good thing. Honestly, I picked up the show because you also need to grow as an actor emotion-wise. There was a time when I used to think that show
mein father play
karne se better
hai to put in your papers. But now I think it’s important to grow. I was waiting to play a father on the screen.”
Aalisha adds, “Honestly, I was a little sceptical about playing this character. But when I heard the story, I had goosebumps and tears in my eyes. I just wanted to do it. There were no second thoughts after reading the script. Emotions are strong here, the story is strong and it is narrated well. A strong story is the backbone of a show and I’m sure the audience will love it.”
