Akshita Vatsayan joins Anupamaa as the new Ishaani; says 'it feels surreal as it’s not just a show, it’s an emotion'
The popular Anupamaa, produced by , welcomes a new face to its cast. Actor has stepped into the role of Ishaani, following Vidushi Tiwari’s exit from the show. Known for its emotional storytelling and strong performances, Anupamaa continues to be a fan favorite, and Akshita is all set to bring her own depth and nuance to the beloved character.
Speaking about joining the show, Akshita shared, “Honestly, it feels surreal as it’s not just a show—it’s an emotion that connects so many people deeply. Joining a team that has created such a strong impact feels like an honour and a huge responsibility. I am grateful to be a small part of something that is so loved and inspiring.”
Akshita expressed her admiration for the way Ishaani has been portrayed so far, emphasizing her intention to maintain the emotional essence of the character while also evolving her. “I completely respect the way Ishaani has been built so far. There is already an emotional connection with the audience. My approach is to understand her emotional core and her relationships with her mother Pakhi and Anuma. I want to bring my own energy to her—make her feel familiar, but also a little evolved, like someone the audience already knows but is curious to rediscover.”
For Akshita, authenticity lies in honesty and attention to detail.“For me, authenticity comes from really feeling what Ishaani feels and understanding her background and equations with her family. The small details—her tone, reactions, and silences—make the biggest difference, especially in a show like Anupamaa, which is emotionally rich.”
Talking about her experience on set, Akshita had only praise for the team. “It’s been a warm and creatively fulfilling experience. Rajan sir and the entire DKP team create such a nurturing environment on set. Everyone is supportive and values every actor’s input. They truly believe in collaborative storytelling—it’s inspiring to see how much passion goes into every scene. You can feel the heart behind the camera as much as in front of it.”
Sharing a glimpse of what audiences can expect from her portrayal, Akshita revealed, “My version of Ishaani will show a more mature and emotionally aware side of her. She’s learning to find her individuality while staying rooted in her family’s values. Viewers will see more strength, sensitivity, and perhaps a spark of independence that reflects the phase she’s stepping into.”
Akshita also shared her gratitude toward the audience, saying, “The love Anupamaa receives is overwhelming. I know viewers are deeply attached to every character, and I just hope they give me the same love and accept me with an open heart.”
Recalling her first meeting with producer Rajan Shahi, she said,“I actually met Rajan sir last year for a different character, but what truly touched me was that he remembered me. He was so warm and encouraging and explained everything in detail. He spoke about how growth on set should be a collective journey. Even on my first day of shooting, the team made me feel completely at home—it didn’t feel like joining a new set.”
Expressing her excitement about this new chapter, Akshita concluded, “Anupamaa is a show that has touched people’s hearts in the most genuine way. Being welcomed into a world that already means so much to audiences across the country is truly special. I feel grateful, excited, and inspired to give my best every single day.”
