Altamash Faraz opens up about the challenges of playing the new lead In Mangal Lakshmi: says 'Making Your Own Place Is Tricky'
Actor Altamash Faraz recently stepped into an exciting new phase of his career as the new-male lead in the popular television drama Mangal Lakshmi. While the show already has a loyal fan base, Altamash's arrival after the generational leap has sparked new interest among viewers.
Altamash said that the show's strong and progressive story was a big reason why he wanted the role. He explained, “I think Mangal Lakshmi in itself is a very unique show. It has a very progressive storyline showing not just the ordeals but also how to face life in a modern world with your values intact, which connects with the Indian audiences very well.”
The actor further revealed that the leap in the story opened up an exciting opportunity for him to become a part of the project. According to him, joining a show that is already successful brings its own challenges. “When the leap came, I thought it was a great opportunity to associate myself with a show that talks about real issues. Entering an already running successful show always has its own challenges, as the audience is attached to the characters, and making your own place is tricky,” he said.
However, Altamash believes that actors should focus on the work rather than worrying about comparisons or expectations. He added that the real aim is to deliver an engaging performance. “But that's not our prerogative to think. We just focus on giving our best to the character we are playing and making it as interesting and entertaining as we can so that the audience really enjoys it,” he shared.
Talking about the journey of his character so far, Altamash said the role is still unfolding as the story continues to move forward. “The character is still evolving, as it has just been a month since we started shooting. The storyline is still picking up with high drama and new twists coming up every week,” he explained.
Interestingly, he described his on-screen persona as someone who keeps viewers guessing. “However, the character arc is very interesting as he is very unpredictable, so you never know what might be his next step, which keeps the curiosity and novelty factor alive in the story for him,” Altamash said.
For the actor, this unpredictability is also what makes the role creatively fulfilling. “That way, it is also very interesting for me to play the character as I am thrown into new situations to adapt and imbibe for the character. Stitching it through the journey is helping me grow a lot as an actor,” he concluded.
