Amitabh Bachchan postpones ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ shoot as a contestant face family emergency on set; ‘Felt it would not be ethical to continue the game’

Amitabh Bachchan is currently busy with filming and hosting ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati.’ During the filming of one of the recent episodes of the show, the veteran actor had to stop the production team from continuing after a contestant went through a medical emergency. Detailing the matter, the star took to his online blog to share an update about what went down on the sets of the hit TV show.

The veteran actor took to his blog recently to share an update from the sets of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati.’ He revealed that one of the contestants invited on the show ended up facing a sudden family emergency and was unable to continue with the filming. Since this happened as soon as they landed in the hot seat, filming was distributed.


Big B took it upon himself to talk to the production staff members and postpone the shoot until later due to the mishap. He revealed that he “felt it would not be ethical to continue the game with the wife when her husband is not feeling good .. It would be playing on her mind, and she would not be able to concentrate on the game.”

He further shared that, “I told Production I shall shoot another day, give time for the Husband to recover, even if it means, due to broadcast constraints, to work extra and do 3 episodes instead of the regular 2 per day!!”

The hit TV variety show has been directly adapted from the ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ franchise and has been in circulation for 25 years. Amitabh Bachchan has led the show as its official host from the very first episode, which aired on July 3, 2000. ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ also marked the legendary actor’s TV debut.

He last appeared on the big screen in the Tamil film ‘Vettaiyan,’ which was released in 2024. He also did a voiceover as the narrator in the recently released ‘120 Bahadur,’ and has also been cast as the voice of Jatayu in the epic remake ‘Ramayana: Part 1.’
