Anokhaa Bandhan actress Eshaa Pathak: I never imagined I’d be in this field, as acting wasn’t something I was initially drawn to
When Eshaa Pathak moved from Satna, Madhya Pradesh, to Mumbai in 2019, acting wasn’t even on her radar. Her focus was music. Now, she is the lead in Anokhaa Bandhan, but the journey that led her there was anything but planned. Before relocating to Mumbai for advanced music training, Eshaa participated in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa (2017) and Indian Idol (2018). However, a chance enrolment in an acting workshop, encouraged by her mother to help her overcome stage fright unexpectedly opened the doors to acting.
She shares, “I am a trained singer and dancer and have won several state-level competitions. However, back in Satna, opportunities were limited. People encouraged us to move to a bigger city for better training and career prospects. Acting wasn’t part of the plan. My mother enroled me in an acting workshop to help me feel more confident on stage while singing and dancing.”
It was during that workshop that a fellow student suggested she audition for acting roles. She recalls, “Someone in my acting class saw potential and encouraged me to audition. Although not keen, I decided to give it a shot, and within a week and a half, I landed my first role as a parallel lead in Jag Janani Maa Vaishno Devi. I fell in love with the process of transforming into different characters and being on set.”
From there, Eshaa’s acting career took off with roles in Faltu, Tara from Satara, and Vighnaharta Ganesh, ultimately leading to her first lead role in Anokhaa Bandhan. Reflecting on her journey, she says, “Destiny played a big part in bringing me here. I never imagined I’d be in this field, as acting wasn’t something I was initially drawn to.”
But does she miss her first love—singing and dancing? “Not at all,” she replies, adding, “Singing and dancing are a part of who I am, and I get to incorporate both into my acting. There are dance sequences in the show, and I even got the chance to sing in one of the episodes. So, in a way, I’m doing everything I love in one job.”
