His closest friend and batch mate actor Rakesh Pandey had got a call from Shyam just a few days before he passed. Rakesh, who has been very close to him through all these years shares, “He told me that he had called our guru

ji and had a long chat with him. I can’t believe that he is gone. It’s a huge personal loss to me. Anupam not only was a committed actor but also had excellent socializing skills and that is why our guru Prof Raj Bisaria fondly called him ‘Mr Vyavhar Kushal’. His journey from here to Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts and Repertory - National School of Drama in Delhi, to Mumbai has been an inspirational one.”
