'Anupamaa' written update, 23rd March: Anupama gets trapped at work and Digvijay turns out to be the hero nobody saw coming

The episode opens with Jaya restless and unsettled. Anupama hasn't returned home, and without her, nothing feels right. Hunger sets in, but Jaya won't touch her food. Banku tries to coax her into eating. She refuses. As the clock creeps past 10 PM, Digvijay asks Banku to lock the gate, unmoved by Jaya's pleas. Jaya breaks down, begging him not to shut the door on Anupama. Digvijay stays firm, calls Anupama careless, and walks away. Jaya is left crying, Banku unable to reach Anupama's phone.

Rossi locks Anupama in the bathroom

Meanwhile, at the hotel, Anupama finishes her shift and asks Rossi if she can leave. Rossi, worried the manager will find out she forced Anupama into overtime, keeps piling on more tasks. Then, quietly and deliberately, she locks Anupama inside the bathroom. Anupama realises what has happened. She panics not for herself, but for Jaya waiting at home. She cries out for help, exhausted and alone, and eventually faints from the strain.

Digvijay steps up despite himself

Back home, Jaya has had enough. She falls at Digvijay's feet, an act that finally cracks something in him. He heads to the hotel with Jaya and Banku in tow. At the reception, he confronts a sleeping guard, demands cooperation from the staff, and threatens to call the media and police when the receptionist pushes back. The receptionist checks the records. Anupama hasn't punched out. The search begins. Banku and Jaya find Anupama and bring her out safely.

Anupama shields Rossi, still fears losing her job

Once rescued, Anupama's first instinct is to protect everyone around her. She tells the manager she doesn't know how she got locked in, taking the blame on herself. She pleads not to be fired. Digvijay quietly notices that he asks whether she is really sure no one was behind it. Anupama thinks of Rossi but says nothing. Jaya thanks Digvijay with quiet warmth. He brushes it off, grumbling that since they arrived, he hasn't had a moment of peace. Banku watches, smiling, he can see the softness Digvijay is trying hard to hide.

Mahi confronts Gautam over his affair

On the other side of the story, Mahi finally calls out Gautam on his affair, something everyone around her had warned her about. Gautam is cold and dismissive, telling her she can't do anything about it. Mahi doesn't crumble. She misses Anupama deeply in this moment, wanting to share what she's going through, but holds back so as not to burden her.

Vasundhara rallies behind Anupama from afar

At the Kothari household, Mahi presents her new designs to Vasundhara, nervous but hopeful. Vasundhara appreciates the work and encourages her to keep going. Rahi, when asked about Anupama's absence, stands firmly in her corner, reminding everyone that Anupama is a devotee of Lord Krishna and that one should trust the result, not worry about it. The Kotharis haven't forgotten her.
