Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi’s love story: From a ‘fling’ to three decades of togetherness

Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi have been together for over three decades, and their love story began in the most unexpected way. The two met at a friend’s party at a time when both had just come out of long-term relationships and were not looking for anything serious. What they initially saw as a rebound or a casual fling eventually turned into a lifelong partnership—proof that love often finds its own path.

In a recent video on Archana’s YouTube channel, the couple opened up about how their relationship began. They first met at a social gathering in the late 1980s and felt an instant connection while clubbing later that night. Archana waited for a call, and Parmeet reached out the very next day.

Archana candidly recalled, “This was earlier meant to be a fling.” The two would even remind each other daily not to get too serious, clearly agreeing that it was meant to be a casual arrangement.

Rebound relationships are often believed to be short-lived, especially when both people are recovering from failed relationships. Archana and Parmeet entered their bond during a vulnerable phase, yet managed to prove the stereotype wrong.

Archana shared, “People say rebound relationships don’t last, but we are proof that they can work. Something that was supposed to be a one-night stand… we told each other very clearly that this would not be serious.” What started casually slowly evolved into a deep and lasting commitment.

At the time, Archana was a major star following the success of 'Jalwa', while Parmeet came from a modest, middle-class background. He often felt she was out of his league. Parmeet admitted telling her, “You were hot and happening then. I came from a middle-class family, and you had just done Jalwa. I didn’t think someone like you would ever say yes to me.”

For Archana, however, Parmeet’s sincerity mattered far more than fame. Their differing backgrounds never became a barrier in their relationship.

Parmeet expressed his love in a simple yet romantic way—by giving Archana three red roses every day. Often, he would borrow money from her to buy them. Eventually, Archana asked him to stop the habit. She recalled, “When he started doing it regularly and kept borrowing from me, I told him to stop buying roses.”

Parmeet jokingly wondered if that meant their love would stop too, turning the moment into one of their many shared laughs.

After years of dating, Archana and Parmeet tied the knot in 1992. Together, they built a life rooted in mutual respect, humour, and companionship. They are now proud parents to two sons, Aaryamann and Ayushmaan.

Archana often says their journey proves that even the most casual beginnings can lead to a lifetime of happiness. Decades later, their relationship remains one of the strongest in the industry, and they continue to share their joy with fans through social media.
