Archana Puran Singh opens up about miscarriage, father’s sudden demise and more; says, “I felt abandoned by Parmeet during my pregnancy”

Archana Puran Singh recently appeared on a podcast with her husband Parmeet Sethi. She opened up about her miscarriage, kids, her father’s demise, and much more. She revealed how she felt abandoned by her husband Parmeet Sethi during her first pregnancy. Here’s all you need to know:

Archana opens up about her miscarriage

Talking about her miscarriage, she said, “Kids were something I absolutely did not want. But then, in the first four years of our marriage, towards the end of those four years, I conceived. Unfortunately, I couldn’t carry the pregnancy through. At that time, I was working on a film, and it wasn’t even about urgency; the film had its own timeline. I then had a miscarriage.”

When Archana’s father passed away

Parmeet recalled Archana’s father’s sudden demise and said, “It was the ’90s—mid-’90s. I remember it very clearly, vividly. When we found out that you were pregnant, your father had just passed away. I was in Dubai at the time. You had gone to Bangkok for a show.” Archana, on the other hand, said, “We got the call there. I was standing at the hotel reception. There were no mobile phones back then. My manager told me that your father had expired. I immediately left without doing the show. I travelled from Bangkok to Calcutta, then Calcutta to Delhi, and from Delhi to Dehradun by road. By the time I reached, your father had already been cremated.”

Struggles during pregnancy

Talking about the struggles during pregnancy, Parmeet said, “I remember the first three or four months. During pregnancy, you feel nauseous, you feel queasy. You were sick for eight months. That’s because you were allergic to me. That also happened, remember? You started getting allergic to any kind of smell. Even the soap smell—whenever I used to have a bath and come, you would say, ‘Oh my God.’ It was like you’d become an animal who could smell every scent in the world. I remember your makeup man used to come, and you’d say, ‘Oh my God, I can’t bear this smell.’”

Archana’s message for her sons

Archana shared, “I want to tell my sons what I felt when I didn’t get support during my pregnancy. I’ll tell them to do everything. You have to be with your wife—not just for those nine months. During those nine months, it’s only your wife in front of you; your baby isn’t there yet. At that time, your wife needs you. And I felt, as a partner, somewhere I felt abandoned.”

Archana shared being pregnant during her father’s demise

Archana said, “During those 13 days of mourning, when there is so much grief, I remember being shocked at myself. I felt like eating boiled potatoes. I kept thinking, my father has passed away, and yet I feel like eating something. At that time, I didn’t know I was pregnant. Immediately after that, I had to go to Bombay for work.”

7/7

Parmeet’s confession

Parmeet said, “I must admit today that I didn’t know what to do during your pregnancy, and I didn’t support you. I did not know what to do and what not to do. I remember you were lying down on the bed and everything.” Archana then revealed how she felt abandoned by Parmeet during her pregnancy.
