Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain actor Saanand Verma: Dhanteras is about faith, energy, and gratitude — not just shopping
Actor Saanand Verma, widely loved as Saxenaji from and known for his work in films such as Babli Bouncer, , Aakhon Ki Gustaakhiyan and the web series First Copy, believes that Dhanteras is not merely about buying gold or silver, but about invoking positive energy through faith and gratitude.
“The things that used to happen thirty years ago carried a sense of priority, faith, and devotion,” says Saanand. “Back then, people worshipped with sincerity and connected deeply with God. But now, many things have become commercialized, and that sacred connection is fading. We need to bring back that sense of belief.”
The actor reflects that buying something on Dhanteras brings good luck only when done with conviction. “Belief has energy,” he adds. “If you purchase something with faith in Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha, it truly becomes auspicious. But if you dismiss it as marketing, it loses meaning.”
Despite the day’s emphasis on wealth, Saanand says his celebrations are humble. “I don’t shop much because I don’t have extra money lying around,” he shares candidly. “Every year, I just buy a small silver coin for the puja. If Goddess Lakshmi blesses me financially, maybe next year I’ll buy something bigger!”
Recalling his childhood, Saanand fondly remembers how his mother found joy in simplicity. “We didn’t have money for expensive crackers, so my mother would buy one small bundle of chataai bombs and sparklers. She’d open them up, separate each cracker, and give them to me and my sister. Even with little, she made us feel rich with happiness,” he recalls emotionally.
For Saanand, the message of Dhanteras extends beyond wealth. “We must stay connected with God — the Supreme Power — and express gratitude every day. Being human, being kind, and doing good deeds are the real sources of good fortune.”
