Reflecting on her experience and the growing global concern over cancer, she shared a deeply personal message on social media. As a mother, she admitted that one of her most pressing concerns after her battle with cancer is whether she has inadvertently increased the risk for her children. This sentiment struck a chord with many of her followers who could relate to her fears and struggles.
Chhavi shared a series of images with her son and wrote, “As World Cancer Day approaches, I find myself reflecting on the alarming rise in cancer cases worldwide. In India alone, there were 14 lakh cases reported in 2022, with a staggering 12.8% increase projected by 2025. Among men, lung cancer remains the most prevalent, while breast cancer-followed by cervical cancer-affects the highest number of women.”
She further wrote, “As a mother who has battled cancer, I often wonder: Have I increased the odds for my children? While the exact causes of this epidemic remain uncertain, genetic history does play a role. However, it's only part of the bigger picture-lifestyle choices, environmental factors, and early detection are equally crucial in the fight against cancer. To gain a deeper understanding of how cancer impacts our lives, I would love your participation in this poll: Have you or someone you know personally experienced cancer?”
She emphasized that factors such as lifestyle choices, environmental influences, and early detection are equally vital in understanding and preventing cancer. In her post, Chhavi emphasized that while she was grateful to have fought cancer and come out on the other side, the fear of whether her own children could face a similar fate weighed heavily on her mind.
In an effort to foster further dialogue and raise awareness, Chhavi included a poll in her post asking her followers whether they, or someone they know, had experienced cancer. This question invited responses from people across different walks of life, further amplifying the importance of the conversation about cancer and its impact on families and communities.
