Debina Bonnerjee gives an insight into depleting pregnancy hormones and the thought of not being able to breastfeed anymore

Mom of two baby girls Lianna (1) and Divisha (6 months), Debina Bonnerjee has been chronicling her motherhood journey for a long time through her vlogs. While she keeps giving a glimpse of her family life, this time she spoke about how she has been feeling post her two pregnancies. The actress gave an insight into her depleting pregnancy hormones after having two babies back-to-back and how she has been dealing with the thought of not being able to breastfeed her kids.

Enjoying the pregnancy hormones

Pregnancy hormones are beautiful. It makes a lot of things happen in a woman’s body. Your skin glows, hair becomes good. My hair grew so much and I was enjoying it to the fullest.

3/8

When she started lactating in the second pregnancy

With Divisha, I started lactating and my hormones were very good in the body. It’s been six months. During Lianna, I didn’t lactate at all. With Divisha, I didn’t think much but when I started lactating, it’s been such a beautiful journey.

On her depleting pregnancy hormones

The pregnancy hormone is depleting. I started noticing it when I had major hair fall. My hairline had thinned and now baby hair is coming back. Thankfully, my skin didn’t go for a toss.

5/8

Highs and lows of breastfeeding

The journey of breastfeeding has been full of highs and lows. It is so unpredictable. When it begins, you feel wow. Initially, it is very hurting. It’s not a cakewalk. You get nipple soreness, and the baby bites. But from the end of first month, it becomes a beautiful journey because your body gets used to it. When the mother looks at the baby while breastfeeding, it is the most beautiful vision. It can’t be described.

6/8

Wanted her breastfeeding journey to be a bit longer

We are often told that babies won’t get nutrition through breastfeeding. I started giving the baby top-feed and formula milk slowly. If I had not heard those ‘extra’ voices and continued with just breastfeeding, my journey would have been a bit longer.

7/8

Feeling lost at the thought of not being able to breastfeed

The hormones start decreasing and the milk starts decreasing. It gets difficult to pump milk. By the end of the fifth month, it started decreasing and now I am clinging to the last bit of it. You feel so lost thinking you won’t be able to feed your baby anymore. Some people will be able to relate to this feeling.

8/8

Focusing on diet and fitness

I made my heart understand that when the pregnancy hormones are depleting then why not focus on my fitness and diet? Now there’s no excuse that my lactation will decrease if I focus on fitness or diet. So slowly, I am embarking on my journey to fitness.
