Did Arunita Kanjilal's parents' interference throw a spanner in her second music video with Pawandeep Rajan?- The Big Exclusive!

She is barely 18 and so you can well understand what Arunita Kanjilal's parents must have undergone when the news of her rumoured love affair with Pawandeep Rajan broke out in the media while she was still competing in Indian Idol 12. Buzz is, Arunita's mother was very averse to those reports, and in fact, somehow wasn't much fond of Pawandeep from the beginning of the competition. We texted Arunita this about her mother - to know if this was any amount of reason for her to have walked out from Raj Surani's musical package- as we found that the young lady had kept her phone off since morning. A WhatsApp call later was picked up by a very rude voice at the other end- a female- and we assume it was her mother, who only said, "You cannot call her directly. Call her manager Suraj from Sony." A few minutes later, our sent text message showed a blue tick on Arunita's phone. So either Arunita or her family had read it. But we did not get a reply.

So the story continues that the apparent parental discomfort extended when music director Raj Surani signed up Arunita with Pawandeep for 3 music videos, but not before Arunita's father made it clear to Raj on the day of the Indian Idol 12 finale that there should be no intimate scenes in the video. Raj then told Arunita's parents that they should rather be present on the set when he shoots his song.

So, a young girl (who was designated as her manager), who was hired by a guardian of Arunita, was sent with Arunita on the set of Raj's first music video. ETimes TV has it that Arunita has a guardian in Mumbai who has coordinated/interacted on most of the things connected to all her assignments till date.

And then, Arunita dropped the bomb that she was not going to do the second video with Pawandeep even though she has recorded it. Mind you, she had even done the rehearsals for it! No, in fact, this was also conveyed (to Raj) by the family via someone! And this was conveyed before the press conference that was held for the first one, which Arunita attended.

We hear that was when Arunita last met Raj and he tried to convince her all out (after all, she had done the first video and the duo's work together had been well received) but to no avail. When he kept prodding her on the reason why she's quitting his musical package- which comprised of three songs, and note well, not just the second but also the third song has been recorded in Arunita's voice and Raj is still keeping her voice in it- she eventually told him that 'her family too doesn't want her to do it' (note the word 'too'). But at the end of the conversation, she told Raj that 'ok, soch ke batati hoon'.

As for the new girl who will pair up with Pawandeep in the second video, we hear that she has been finalised and a formal announcement is in the offing.

What remains to be seen is whether Arunita sticks to her, err, the family's decision to not feature in any videos hereafter. Or, was the reason given to just ward off the remaining two videos in Raj's musical package?

When contacted this afternoon, Raj told ETimes TV, "If Arunita didn't want to perform, why did she do shows abroad? It seems that it was the family's decision that she should not act in them. All said and done, I am definitely very disappointed."

When Suraj was contacted and asked if one of the main reasons for Arunita opting out from her music video with Pawandeep was that her mother had issues of her working with Pawandeep and the stories brewing up about their chemistry and romance, he said, "That had nothing to do with it. Arunita was not comfortable at acting and has no inclination towards it. She wants to focus on singing. Octopus (Raj's company) demanded a level of acting which she tried but it was taking a toll on her. Hence, she backed out. However, she will be seen in the reprise videos, standing and singing with Pawandeep- no acting skills required for that."
