Dilip Kumar was a legend, there will be none like him again, say actors

On July 7, an era came to an end, as legendary actor Dilip Kumar bid farewell to the mortal world. The veteran actor was hospitalised in Mumbai a few days back. This morning, he passed away at the age of 98.

An actor par excellence, Dilip Sahab, as he is fondly known among the fraternity, left behind a legacy of more than six decades in the film industry. He was an inspiration for many actors, as they ventured into the world of acting. With the demise of the legend, the entertainment industry is not only in a state of shock but is mourning the loss of a fine person as well.

Many actors who considered him as their idol, paid tribute to him while expressing their grief for the loss.

Actress Akanksha Puri shared, “I got up to this really sad news in the morning today - Dilip Kumar Sahab passed away! It’s clearly the end of an era. He has inspired so many actors like me. He is an institution himself. For us Indian Cinema is Dilip Kumar Sahab. He will always be remembered and missed. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and all his loved ones. R.I.P Dilip Sahab.”

Actress Shubhangi Atre says, "Dilip kumar sir will always stay alive in heart of we Indians. For we actors he was one of the greatest inspiration. He actually introduced the country with art of acting, and made people respect an artist talent. I'm great fan of him. I'm fan of his work and watched him to learn so many things. I still enjoy watching his films like Nadiya Ke Par and Devdas.

Actor Kunal Jaisingh expresses, "There is no doubt that Dilip Sir is one of the kings of Bollywood. He was a trendsetter in terms of acting style, and inspired generations of actors across various streams of Indian cinema. I still enjoy watching his films like Ram Aur Shyam and Sadhu Aur Shaitaan among others. As an actor, I've always groomed myself by watching him. The news actually broke my heart."

"Dilip sahab was the last surviving star of the formidable triumvirate he formed with Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand in the 1950s. After his passing away, one era has come to an end. The actor known as the ‘tragedy king’ for excelling in brooding and intense romantic roles, has been an inspiration for many debutants. I don't think anyone can be as perfect like him onscreen, even today. He was a great inspiration and will be remembered by generations," shares actor Simba Nagpal

Actor Pankit Thakker says, "Dilip Kumar sir was actually more than an actor. He was an institution that inspired generations of actors through a career that spanned 54 years with so many films. He was actually a great human being. His passing away has actually saddened the entire showbiz family. No one can be as good as him on screen. I have actually enjoyed watching his movies like Sita Aur Geeta and Chaalbaaz among others."

"Dilip sir was regarded as one of the greatest actors that India has ever seen, his career spanned over five iconic decades. One of the legends of Golden Age of cinema in India, he was considered a master of understatement, and eschewed the loud and theatrical elements of acting. There is still so much to learn from him. I still keep going back to films like Kranti, Vidhaata, Shakti and Mashaal - which are among his evergreen projects that even coming generations would enjoy watching. He will always stay alive in our hearts," says actor Adnan Khan

Actress Priya Banerjee shares, “My heart breaks waking up to this news. What a legend we’ve lost today who gave us such beautiful and larger than life movies which will always be a part of the legacy. RIP legend! You will always remain in our hearts forever.”

Actor Paras Chhabra shares, "Everyone was praying for his recovery but this sad news came up, which is so heart-wrenching. People call him a legend because no one can ever be Dilip Kumar. You can mimic him but no will never reach that level. He had a golden heart and many people have learnt so much by just watching his films."

He further adds, " I love his work in Devdas, which I've watched many times. His acting in the film was brilliant. It taught me a lot as an actor. If I get a chance I would love to reprise his role from the same movie."

Actress Simran Budharup shares, "We all knew he was hospitalised, but his demise is so disheartening. This was not at all expected. I'm still in shock. He was a gem of a person and an institution of acting. Apart from acting, he was a brilliant human being. He will always be an inspiration for many."
She also shares that she loves watching Mughal-E-Azam, whenever she can.

Actor Akshay Kharodia says, "His work, his superhit films made him a legend. The superiority in his work was on the next level no one can ever do that. I haven't been able to concentrate since I heard the news."
Talking about his movies, the actor says, "Naya Daur is my favourite movie by Dilip Kumar. This one was special for him also as he bagged his first-ever Filmfare award for this film. Dilip Kumar played the role of Shankar in this. It was a romantic drama. I No one can match his level of acting as Prince Salim in Mughal-E-Azam, but if I get a chance I would like to portray that."
