Dilip Kumar passes away at 98; actors pay homage

On July 7, an era came to an end, as legendary actor Dilip Kumar bid farewell to the mortal world. The veteran actor was hospitalised in Mumbai a few days back. This morning, he passed away at the age of 98.

An actor par excellence, Dilip Sahab, as he is fondly known among the fraternity, left behind a legacy of more than six decades in the film industry. He was an inspiration for many actors, as they ventured into the world of acting. With the demise of the legend, the entertainment industry is not only in a state of shock but is mourning the loss of a fine person as well.

Many actors who considered him as their idol, paid tribute to him while expressing their grief for the loss.

Akanksha Puri: End of an era

Actress Akanksha Puri shared, “I got up to this really sad news in the morning today - Dilip Kumar Sahab passed away! It’s clearly the end of an era. He has inspired so many actors like me. He is an institution himself. For us Indian Cinema is Dilip Kumar Sahab. He will always be remembered and missed. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and all his loved ones. R.I.P Dilip Sahab.”

Shubhangi Atre: He will be alive in our hearts

Actress Shubhangi Atre says, "Dilip kumar sir will always stay alive in heart of we Indians. For we actors he was one of the greatest inspiration. He actually introduced the country with art of acting, and made people respect an artist talent. I'm great fan of him. I'm fan of his work and watched him to learn so many things. Paras Chhabra: His films taught me a lot as an actor

Actor Paras Chhabra shares, "Everyone was praying for his recovery but this sad news came up, which is so heart-wrenching. People call him a legend because no one can ever be Dilip Kumar. You can mimic him but no will never reach that level. He had a golden heart and many people have learnt so much by just watching his films."

He further adds, " I love his work in Devdas, which I've watched many times. His acting in the film was brilliant. It taught me a lot as an actor. If I get a chance I would love to reprise his role from the same movie."

Simran Budharup: Not just a great actor, he was a great person too

Actress Simran Budharup shares, "We all knew he was hospitalised, but his demise is so disheartening. This was not at all expected. I'm still in shock. He was a gem of a person and an institution of acting. Apart from acting, he was a brilliant human being. He will always be an inspiration for many."
She also shares that she loves watching Mughal-E-Azam, whenever she can.

Akshay Kharodia: His superior acting skills made him a legend

Actor Akshay Kharodia says, "His work, his superhit films made him a legend. The superiority in his work was on the next level no one can ever do that. I haven't been able to concentrate since I heard the news."
Talking about his movies, the actor says, "Naya Daur is my favourite movie by Dilip Kumar. This one was special for him also as he bagged his first-ever Filmfare award for this film. Dilip Kumar played the role of Shankar in this. It was a romantic drama. I No one can match his level of acting as Prince Salim in Mughal-E-Azam, but if I get a chance I would like to portray that."
