Donal Bisht speaks out against dowry, celebrates the birth of a girl child
Actress Donal Bisht has taken a strong stand on social media, using her platform to speak about the importance of valuing every child — especially girls — and condemning the practice of dowry.
In an Instagram Story, Donal shared a heartwarming video originally posted by Dr. Sushma Mogri, showing a newborn baby girl wrapped in a blanket. The text on the video read, “बिटिया हुई हैं!!!” (“A daughter is born!!!”). Along with the video, Donal posted a powerful message calling for a change in mindset.
“Every child is special and girls are the best!” she wrote, while acknowledging that in some families, the birth of a girl is still met with pressure due to dowry expectations at marriage. She urged parents to focus on making their daughters capable, independent, and well-educated, so they can live with confidence and dignity.
Addressing the harmful custom, Donal appealed: “Stop dowry! It should not reach a point where there are so few girls that boys have to give dowry to marry.” She emphasized that balance is the key and expressed disbelief over how anyone could discard or harm a child because of gender.
“A child itself is a God’s gift,” she wrote, warning that ending a life has consequences. Her post ended with a heartfelt wish: “May your daughters make you proud!”
Donal, known for her roles in Tu Zakhm Hai and various TV shows, has always been vocal about social issues. Her latest message has struck a chord with many followers, sparking positive discussions about gender equality and the need to abolish dowry once and for all.
