Exclusive - Anupamaa actor Shivam Khajuria: I’m celebrating Diwali with family, friends, love and of course lots of sweets
Shivam Khajuria is embracing Diwali with warmth, reflection, and a touch of festive sweetness. From childhood chaos with firecrackers to today’s eco-conscious celebrations, his journey reflects personal growth and a deep sense of compassion. As fans eagerly await the return of his character Prem in Anupamaa, Shivam recently opened up about his Diwali traditions and also teased exciting developments ahead.
“As always, I’m celebrating Diwali with love, family, friends, and of course, lots of sweets!” he shares with a smile. “Diwali for me is all about spreading joy, gratitude, and light. The get-togethers, laughter, and celebrations with loved ones always become memories to treasure.”
For Shivam, the festival has always been more than rituals; it’s a feeling. He fondly recalls bursting firecrackers with neighborhood kids and returning home to a table full of sweets, with motichoor laddoos stealing the spotlight. The happiness and positivity of those childhood celebrations continue to shape how he celebrates today.
One memory, however, stands out for a different reason. “When I was a kid, I lit a firecracker, and suddenly a bunch of street dogs started running after me. I was terrified,” he laughs. “That moment taught me how much noise can frighten animals. Ever since, I’ve been careful and considerate about bursting crackers, making sure no stray animals are hurt or scared.”
That experience led to a shift in how Shivam marks the occasion. “I used to love crackers, and honestly, I still enjoy them. But now I prefer keeping it simple and more eco-friendly. I think we can all celebrate the festival with light and joy without causing too much pollution or distress to animals.”
Addressing fans who have missed seeing Prem on screen, Shivam says, “I had to travel to my hometown for a family emergency, so I couldn’t shoot for a bit. But all’s good now, and Prem will be back very soon with some interesting twists lined up!”
Shivam Khajuria says that the best Diwali celebrations come from being compassionate, making connections, and making memories with the people we love. He still lights up hearts, both on and off the screen, whether through youthful pranks or thoughtful decisions.
