Exclusive - Eid Mubarak 2020: Sara Khan to Aasiya Kazi; TV celebs share how they will celebrate during the lockdown

With the holy season of Ramadan ending last night (Sunday), families begin their Eid celebrations today (May 25) by praying, exchange of food, gifts with family and friends. This year, due to the lockdown, the festival is being celebrated indoors amid the coronavirus pandemic. However, TV celebs have kept their spirits high for the auspicious occasion of Eid. Bidaai fame Sara shared, “This time I’m going to be meeting my entire family and friends across the globe, but through video call! Every year, I ensure I do a grand iftar party at home, but this time that’s obviously not happening. This is the first Eid where I didn’t work towards finding the Eid dress. So, I’m going to wear what I have in my wardrobe. I’m also going to cook sheer khurma, dahi vadas, and of course since it's Meethi Eid, I’ll be making Muzafir. Muzafir is this authentic dish that I learned from my dadi.”

The actress, who essays the role of Devaki in RadhaKrishn shared, “Eid has always been a close-knit family affair for me. Every year, I make sure I spend time and celebrate the occasion lavishly with my family, friends and co-stars from the show RadhaKrishn. This year, due to the lockdown, it will be different. I will not be able to celebrate Eid lavishly nor call my friends home for dawat. However, my mother will prepare a few dishes and we will enjoy amongst ourselves as a family. To all my fans, I hope you stay safe and celebrate this Eid indoors. May this day bring happiness and peace to one and all. Eid Mubarak.”

Tenali Rama actress Aasiya shared they won’t be celebrating Eid with fanfare as they lost someone close in the family. She said, “My entire family is disturbed. We will just offer namaz. I used to visit Md. Ali Road for delicacies, it is really fun there. During Ramzan we would eat there at least once in a big group with family and cousins. This year, the only priority is getting rid of the virus and people are safe. We didn’t face any difficulty as my brother would go visit the market. We didn’t over stock as there are limited things available. I just pray that the entire world gets rid of all the difficulties that we are facing right now.

Bigg Boss 12 fame Saba said, “We are planning to celebrate with family members at home starting with Eid namaz in the morning. Will cook at home and make some sevaiya. We'll talk to our relatives over video calls as we can’t visit them. Usually we celebrate with friends and relatives coming home. We cook dinner and invite them and then we celebrate with our near and dear ones. We do Eid shopping for the house. New clothes and gifts for relatives, give Eidi to younger ones. Yes, we did miss out because during Ramzan we attend Iftar parties and get to eat delicious food. So we miss eating out. Must visit place during Ramzan is visiting dargah which we have avoided this time. Fortunately, we were at home in Jaipur during lockdown so we didn’t face any difficulties. Fond memories of mine are, I would celebrate Eid with my Nana and nani and go to Eidgah. I used to take lots of Eidi from them. I would tell all to be at home and offer namaz and celebrate with your family members. Don’t over spend instead help poor migrants or any one in need.

Saba’s sister and Bigg Boss 12 contestant Somi shared, “During lockdown, I will celebrate with my family as I am in my hometown Jaipur. We don’t have any house help available so we siblings will clean the house properly. I will help my mother to cook. Few days prior, we clean the house, it’s very important every time before Eid we do proper cleaning of our house. We sisters used to go shopping together to buy Eid’s outfits which I am missing for sure during this lockdown. Male members of our house used to go to eidgah which they wouldn’t be going this time. This time we will wish friends and family members over video calls. I miss going out to eat delicacies a lot as I am a foodie.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’s Mohsin Khan shares, “Since there is no shoot iftari happens timely with family. It is first time ever that Ramadan and Eid will be in the lockdown.” The actor is fond of kebabs, pakoras and biryani, and his mother like every mother is making what he likes to pamper him. He accepts that though his Ammi is not letting him work at home, he is trying to contribute in whatever way he can.
