Exclusive - Gulfam Khan Hussain: If you want to balance work with your personal life, you will have to juggle and make compromises

Gulfam Khan Hussain, who is seen in Gehna: Zevar Ya Zanjeer, believes everyone is making sacrifices and going through some challenging times to make ends meet and maintain a balance between their personal and professional lives. She feels if people feel someone has it all, it’s because they don’t know their true story.

She said, “As the famous lyrics go: Kabhi kisiko muqammal jahan nahi milta, kahin zameen to kahin aasman nahi milta, no one can or will have it all, be it any gender. If you want to balance work with yourself or your family, you have to juggle and compromise on all fronts.”

“It is very easy to say,'so, and so has it all...' You don't know what goes on in their lives. It's not only time at work or the office that is compromised; you compromise on sleep, on health, on seeing the world,” she added.

Sharing a personal example, she said, “My father burned the candles at both ends and toiled for our betterment; every other spare moment he spent with us, he gave us the 'quality' time that we speak of lately, but he compromised on things he wanted to do.”

“He loved to travel, but he couldn't. We found his bucket list of 'to go to' places, and no box was ticked,” she added.

And now, when Gulfam travels, she ticks those boxes; however, she mentioned that she is not able to work as much as she would like to. “I divide my time into multiple things; hence, I still have my career 'to do' list to complete. Maybe that is my compromise. There is 'Complete' in 'Incomplete',” she ended.
