Exclusive! Karan V Grover’s Bohot Pyaar Karte Hai to end on December 10; the actor says that shooting with the child artiste was the best part of the show
The TV show, Bohot Pyaar Karte Hai (BPKH), featuring Sayli Salunkhe and Karan V Grover, is winding up on December 10. The family drama was launched in July this year and will complete five months before it ends.
Talking about his journey on the show, Karan, who plays Ritesh Malhotra in BPKH, says, “It has been great. I got to play a superstar for the first time. I am thankful to Sandiip Sikcand who gave me the feel of being a movie star. Of course, I played somebody who has temper issues, which is not even remotely like me. That was quite challenging because I had to be volatile and reactive all the time, while in real life, I am mellow and avoid confrontations. My mother gets really worked up while watching me play this character on the show (laughs!). Itna chillaata hai, itna chillaata hai, she would tell me.”
He will cherish the experience of shooting with the child artiste, Kiara Sadh. He says, “The best part about being Ritesh Malhotra is the opportunity I got to work with a five-year-old kid. She brings out the best of timing and energy in all of us. She is the cutest and tests our patience and pushes us to up our game in order to keep working with her.”
In recent times, several shows have been pulled off air in no time. About this, Karan says, “It’s a bit surprising, to be honest. This is probably the first time I have finished a show within six months. The TRP game has become a lot more competitive and intense because now we care about it almost on a daily basis, including the time spent every day. It is beyond my understanding. I assume that’s the reason why our show is wrapping up.”
Storylines and tracks changing overnight depending on the feedback from the audience can be quite frustrating for an actor. However, the actor says that he has been lucky on that front. He adds, “Fortunately that hasn’t been the case with my show and me. My character and track largely remain the same. Also, it helps when you are working with creative people like Sandiip Sikcand, who are fabulous at what they are doing. My character’s intention and approach have been the same from day one till the last. Having said that, there are definitely some alterations on a weekly and monthly basis. They want to up the drama and emotions. I am a product of television. I have only learnt this, grown with it, and adapted to changing dynamics.”
