Exclusive - Kaun Banega Crorepati 14's Rs 75 lakh winner Ayush Garg: Mr Bachchan was genuinely very curious to know how online dating works

27-year-old Ayush Garg from Delhi became the first contestant to win 'Dhan Amrit', the prize money of 75 lakh in last night's episode of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'. The young contestant, who brought his girlfriend as his companion to the show, got the show's host Amitabh Bachchan curious about the online dating system. Ayush recently joined ETimes TV for an exclusive chat where he opened up about his experience of being on the show, Big B taking interest in knowing about online dating and getting flooded by messages from people asking him how he made it to the show. I won’t call myself a celebrity but yes more people have started to know me. Reactions all across have been great so far. The special reaction that I have got is that a lot of people are very curious to know I took my girlfriend on the show as my companion. Second was that I reached till the end of the show so people were happy about it. When the promo started coming on television, everyone started asking how I made it to the show, how was my meeting with Mr. Amitabh Bachchan these were the basic questions that I am getting asked now. There’s no doubt that this is a life changing experience for me. KBC has been the biggest game show in the country for the last two decades and to do that consistently every year says a lot about the show and the kind of aspirations people have with regards to the show. In my family all the age groups watch the show be it kids, grandparents, my parents. There were thrilling, fun moments. In a short span of time I got to experience different kinds of emotions through the show. Big B’s presence just enhances all those feelings. It has been an overwhelming experience. Parents are always proud of their children’s achievement and there’s no two ways about it. They are very proud and happy that I could make it that far. It also comes from the fact that when you don’t believe in yourself, they believe in you and they push to go ahead. Same has been with my parents. My mother has always been very motivating. A lot of times when I would watch the show with them, I could answer the questions asked on the show. She would always say that if you can answer them why aren’t you trying for KBC. But I would always say “hoga kaise Mera selection show mein”. It happened this time. She would always push. As everyone has seen he was asking about online dating. But let me tell you he was genuinely very curious about knowing how online dating works. It wasn't like we were trying to make the show interesting. It comes from the fact that he is genuinely curious because he has not experienced it. Shayad se mere batane se he unke liye ye outlet hai to understand about it. So if we remove the masala and just simply look at it, we would understand that he was genuinely curious. The biggest learning I had from the show is that Big B is curious about the smallest things which would not be impactful. It’s not like after learning he would start using online dating apps. I have been watching this show since childhood with my entire family and like everyone else it was also my dream to be on the show. It was no different for me. It was like a dream come true moment to be on the show and now since the promos have started airing on the channel it looks more real. KBC and Mr Bachchan are synonymous with each other. I have grown up watching his movies and on KBC. Also, all the family members from different age groups connect with him. He has a great sense of humour and he likes to keep the atmosphere light. He is always curious to learn about new things and about different topics. It was not just with me, but in the past also we have seen he takes a great interest in knowing or learning about new things. I had a great time interacting with him. His questions about online dating were genuine and I think whenever there will be such an age difference, such questions will automatically come up. I don’t have any such particular dream or wish that I plan to do with the winning amount. I would like to invest in a startup project since I am currently working in one of them. I have seen how lives are impacted and you can make a real change if you invest in a startup. We are in the 75th year of Independence and startup’s are one of the major contributors of our economy today. It is one of the factors that the economy is doing great today. I would like to become the driver of that change in my own way. This is one of my dreams where I can become capable enough to start something of my own.
