Exclusive - Narayani Shastri on not wanting kids; says 'It's a conscious decision to not embrace motherhood'
Narayani Shastri has had a remarkable career in the television industry, with notable roles in iconic shows like "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi" and "Piya Ka Ghar." Recently, during an exclusive chat with ETimes TV, the actress opened up about her association with Ekta Kapoor and shared insights into her personal life, including her decision regarding motherhood. Narayani stated how she has taken a conscious decision to not embrace motherhood.
Narayani Shastri calls Ekta Kapoor a motor. She says, “She works round the clock. It's surprising to see someone so motivated and always looking forward to making something new. Ab itna bada samrajya hai toh sambhaalna toh padega definitely but I remember when I used to do Balaji shows and we have meetings Ekta used to finish one meet and enter the other. I am ever grateful to Ekta for a lot of good shows coming my way. I've done a decent number of shows with Balaji and it has always been a pleasure. It has been a great working relationship with her and I wish to do some great work with her yet again."
Narayani Shastri tied the knot with her boyfriend Steven Graver back in 2015. Steven, her husband, is a British national, who has been living in India for many years. The couple, who has been married for 8 years now, is not very keen on embracing parenthood.
Talking about motherhood, the actress says "It's a conscious decision to not embrace it. It is not about just bringing children to the world, it is about investing in them and making them good humans. I know of many mothers who can seamlessly manage work and kids. For me it did not seem like a possibility. I chose my work and I have no regrets. I am very honest to myself and I have no pretensions to prove anything to anyone. Yes, when I got married my husband and I did speak about parenting but that's it. I have my pets whom I love immensely and I am a workaholic so I am enjoying this phase, kids are lovely but this is my decision."
