Exclusive- Parineeta Borthakur reacts to the tragic demise of singer Zubeen Garg; says 'I'm shocked and shattered beyond words'
Parineeta Borthakur, who is currently seen playing the character of Chandrika Singh Chauhan in the TV show Vasudha is shocked after learning about the tragic news of singer Zubeen Garg's demise. The Bollywood and Assamese playback singer tragically lost their life in a scuba diving accident in Singapore. Parineeta, who has worked with Zubin, is still trying to come to terms with the loss.
In an exclusive conversation, Parineeta shared, "I'm shocked and shattered beyond words. I never thought that he would suddenly leave us like this. He is an artist and legend in the true sense. He's an emotion that every Assamese relates to...There are many singers, but no one can be like him ever. Assam has lost its most important asset today. I don't know what to say more, no words can define what I or all Assamese people feel for him
Remembering memories spent with Amaal, she said, "I used to live with Garima ba (who was his girlfriend at the time and is now his wife). One day, he had called Mahalaxmi for a recording session. On the way to the studio, he suddenly realized he had forgotten the lyrics sheet. Within just ten minutes, he composed a completely new song — and it turned out to be a beautiful one. Another memory that has stayed with me is from the day his mother passed away. I was at the hospital with her and had spent a lot of time around her, so I knew how deeply he loved her. After returning home, instead of breaking down, he sat at his keyboard and began to play. Visitors who came to offer condolences remarked that it didn’t even feel like he had lost his mother. But then, in that very moment of grief, he composed a song for her. That song was Bukute Gupute — a piece so moving that it still brings tears to anyone who understands Assamese."
Parineeta Borthakur and Zubeen Garg are two prominent figures in the Assamese entertainment industry who have collaborated on music and film projects. They starred together in this Assamese language musical romance film, Gaane Ki Aane (2016 film) with Garg as the male lead and Borthakur as the female lead. Parineeta is also a singer and provided vocals for some songs on the soundtrack along with the late singer. Both Parineeta and Zubin featured in The Underworld (2017 ) Assamese film, the pairing was considered as the Shah Rukh and Kajol of the Assamese entertainment industry. The songs Janu Janu and Ulahe Abore, were among their most popular collaborations.
