Exclusive! Shefali Jariwala on debuting with Shaitani Rasmein: Kapalika is fearless, the character created magic for me
Shaitani Rasmein is all set to get launched, being Shefali Jariwala's debut show. The actress got candid about her character, her take on picking projects and more. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes TV, Shefali shared how the character created magic for her and she had to do it.
Everything ticked off the box, be it the storyline, the concept of the show and my character. The channel is amazing, even the production house has been one of the best, and they have given some hit shows. The thriller created magic and I wanted to be a part of a show that had a strong role being my debut on TV.
Fantasy isn't a tricky genre, I believe there are loyal viewers for each genre on Television. Some would like to watch only drama soaps, some are quite loyal to fantasy and other genres. With Shaitani Rasmein, the kind of VFX, art, editing and the thriller is sure to keep the viewers on the edge of their seats. The BGM that was specially curated for the show has an eerie vibe to it which shall keep the audience hooked. I can say that the show is set to create a new benchmark with its content. It is nothing similar to the current shows and is quite edgy.
For me, the storyline matters, and I wouldn't want to be just a character who comes for a few scenes and gets her paycheck. My character needs to have a substantial role in the show and its story. Kapalika has created that magic for me. After shooting for the show, I began to learn new things. I need to love my work and be excited to go every day and Shaitani Rasmein has kept me hooked. I am intrigued and excited to do different scenes every day and I am learning and improving my skills. I have grown as an actor with the show.
A lot of preparation went behind with the show and my character. I had signed the show in September and we had workshops to understand our character and what it offered to the show's storyline. There has been a lot of learning that happened with it, be it the stunts, new skills and mannerisms. I had to look fearless onscreen so I began to imbibe Kapalika's fearless quality in my life. I have been living with the character for quite some time and as you say until and unless you don't feel the character and get into its skin, it won't translate well on the screen.
There is no nervousness, we are doing our best and I am quite positive and hopeful that the audience will love it. I am an extremely positive person, I am doing my job and giving my 100% to it. I can only hope that the audience can see our blood and sweat, our hard work behind the show and appreciate it.
