Exclusive - Shiv Thakare on Shekhar Suman's negative remarks for him on BB 16: Was hurt and had an emotional breakdown in the confession room

Shiv Thakare, who was recently declared as the first runner-up of Bigg Boss 16, visited TOI office in Mumbai for an exclusive chat with ETimes TV. He answered several interesting questions posed by fans. From his dating choices to candid revelations about Mandali, Shiv Thakare poured his heart out in this interaction. While answering a fan question, Shiv admitted that he had an emotional breakdown due to the constant negative remarks by Shekhar Suman in his Big Bulletin. I have no regrets from Bigg Boss 16. I feel I haven’t done anything that I have to regret about. I don’t have any guilt. But I am a human being I might have also made mistakes as I am not perfect but whatever I have done in my journey was from my heart. I shared a selfless bond with Abdu. It was above nominations, ration and everything. We never asked for anything from each other. It is a very pure bond of friendship. We had language barriers as I couldn’t speak English very well and he didn’t know Hindi very well, but we spoke a lot in the house. Tooti phooti English and Hindi and he understood every emotion. Whenever he got angry, emotional he came to me. The first time he got nominated he cried and I also got emotional. I consider Abdu as a gift from Ganpati Bappa, a friend for lifetime. I know Shekhar sir can watch this interview and I am not disrespecting him in any way. It is something that the fans and I also noticed during his episodes. Yes, I was hurt by Shekhar Sir's comments, that’s the reason I had an emotional breakdown in the confession room. I ignored the roasting 3-4 times but when it became a regular thing, I was hurt and I sometimes felt that he was also one of the contestant (laughs) the way he would make comments about me especially. I understand that he had his favourites and there’s nothing wrong in it and he would always praise them. But I started to feel that as if we are not good human beings. He would always praise and compliment Ankit, Priyanka and Archana and there’s no problem in it but the comments that we would face in every Big Bulletin was hurtful. We spoke with Sir and he made me understand that Shiv, “I get a script that I follow and I follow what channel says." And I was fine after that.” I always felt that there’s nothing wrong in having favourites but even we were contestants and his one line of appreciation meant a lot for us. Be it Salman Sir or Shekhar sir they are legends for us. I had once shared this with MC Stan that his one line meant a lot to me and it would stay forever with us. I used to always feel stupid of people who would get into alcohol or become depressed after their breakup. But there was a time in my life when it happened to me and I was heartbroken and devastated. I could feel it and I was in that zone for a month and a half. I faced difficulties in dealing with it. I would go out with friends but couldn’t enjoy anything. I can’t comment who is more deserving as it the audience who decides it. My heart says that I did everything I could to bag the trophy. I didn’t get the trophy but the amount of love I am getting from people is not making me feel bad about losing the trophy. The love has overtaken everything else. When I stepped on the stage I recalled the BB Marathi journey as I was on stage at that time also. I was praying that Salman Khan takes my name and lifts my hand. When MC Stan won and the blast happened, for a second I felt bad for not winning but when I looked at MC Stan, I was like “my brother has won” and there was a smile on my face. I feel if two people look good together and onscreen it is not necessary that they should date each other or get married. They can be friends also. I would like to request to the fans that don’t keep saying that we should get married. We are good as friends and we should enjoy that bond. We share an amazing bond and people should not ruin the friendship by tagging us as couple. In fact, even I don’t want to ruin the friendship with Nimrit by getting into a relationship.
