After an impressive 16-year run, Kush Shah recently said goodbye to his cherished role as Goli in the iconic Indian sitcom "Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah." The show has introduced Dharmit Shah as the new Goli, bringing a fresh wave of excitement for its devoted viewers. In an exclusive interview with ETimes TV, Dharmit shared his thoughts on stepping into the role, dealing with comparisons to Kush Shah, and forming a connection with the Tappu Sena. On joining Taarak Mehta

Taarak Mehta is my favourite show and I would like to thank Asit Kumar Modi our producer for giving me this opportunity to play Goli. It is a very challenging role and I hope I will be able to well on the show. I’m confident I’ll be able to pull off the role well. (Photo: Instagram)

There is a sense of responsibility that I have to give my best

No, there is no pressure to do the role but yes there is a sense of responsibility that I have to give my best. Goli the character I’m playing is a big foodie and in personal life I’m also a big foodie but the amount of fun he has with his Tapu Sena I don’t do with my friends that’s the difference. Main thoda kum masti karta hoon. The character is quite challenging and I’ve to quickly gel up with my Co-stars. As I’m new to the show, I will have to mix-up well with my Co-stars so that the chemistry and bonding reflects onscreen. (Photo: Instagram)

I was nervous when I joined Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah

No, I was not at all nervous about coming on-screen. In fact, I was very excited about doing Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. I was nervous when I joined the show, but all my Co-actors they made me very comfortable on the sets. All of them are very good. Sola saal Aise he pure nahi hote, bahut pyaar mila hai show ko and I’m getting that love now. I feel blessed. (Photo: Instagram)

I was very lucky that I bagged the show and I entered during the 16 years celebrations

When I was offered the show, I was busy with few other projects. But when they called me for auditions, I was very excited and everyone started saying that I look like Goli. I gave audition with no hopes, I thought dekhte hain karke. And I was very lucky that I bagged the show and I entered during the 16 years celebrations. I feel blessed and it is a very big moment. My parents were over the moon

Initially, I did not inform my parents but I was on sets when I got selected. I went home and informed them about the news. They were over the moon, they were very happy. I felt blessed that I could give them this happiness and I got emotional seeing them so happy. Mere liye Woh bahut emotional and happy moment tha. (Photo: Instagram)

There will be comparisons and I'm ready for it

Yes, there will be comparisons and I’m ready for it. We both are different personalities and our reactions can’t be the same. I will definitely try to match up to what the previous Goli did. I will understand the character, emotions and deliver the dialogues accordingly. I’m not going to copy the previous Goli instead will bring my own flavour. (Photo: Instagram)

Tappu Sena is really very supportive and very good

Tappu Sena is really very supportive and very good. Jitna onscreen masti karte hain usse bahut zyada of screen karte hain… I am having a great time working with all of them. They push me a lot to do my best Woh bus motivate karte rehte hain, ke Tu Accha kar we are there. I’m getting along well with everyone but Pinku and Tappu ke saath Meri acchi bonding hai bahut.
