Exclusive - Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's Mandar Chandwadkar aka Bhide reacts to show grabbing second spot on TRP charts, opens up about Tapu-Sonu marriage track

Actor Mandar Chandwadkar became a household name after playing the role of Atmaram Tukaram Bhide in the longest running sitcoms of Indian television, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The actor, who shares a love-hate relationship with Jethalal aka Dilip Joshi on the show, is thrilled as their show takes the second spot on the TRP charts. In an exclusive conversation with Times of Indian TV, Mandar spoke about TMKOC grabbing the second spot on TRP ratings, Sonu and Tappu's wedding track and off-screen fun. He also praised the young actors for performing the scenes well and called the success of the show a teamwork. (Photo: Instagram)

Thanking God for the TRP ratings

I was just praying and thanked God for the good numbers. I and the entire team of Taarak feel blessed about our show being on the second spot. We are feeling extremely happy. (Photo: Instagram)

About Sonu and Tappu's wedding track

Yes, people loved the wedding track of Sonu and Tappu. The show has been running for 17 years now and they have seen Tappu and Sonu growing up and logon ke dimaag mein kahin na kahin ye accha hai ke Tappu and Sonu ki shaadi ho jaaye. Tappu sena will also be very happy with this development. So whenever there is something related to Tappu and Sonu audiences get very happy. Through this track people got a chance to see Bhide vs Jethalal once again which they always look forward to and enjoy watching. It was the icing on the cake for them. We had lot of fun while shooting the sequences. (Photo: Instagram)

All the kids of Tappu Sena performed brilliantly

We enjoy our work off-screen so much that it resonates onscreen also. It translates the same way onscreen. All the kids of Tappu Sena performed brilliantly, they did a very good job. They understood the scenes very well, with good expressions they performed. We senior actors have been doing this for past so many years so we know it but Tappu and Sonu both are a new cast in the show. They did their job very sincerely I must say. We all felt very nice about it. (Photo: Instagram)

Thanking the audience

We feel so humbled and blessed that we are able to achieve milestones even after 17 years of the show. This is the result of the blessings of our audience. Harr tyohar par, har naye saal par hum apne maa baap ke pair choote hain aur bhagwan ko pranaam karte hain ye usiki blessings hain. Humein aashirwad mila hai ke aapka show chalta rahe. We are able to achieve everything because of the love and support of the audience. (Photo: Instagram)

Audience prays that our show continues to grow

We are truly blessed by our audience, as every time we meet them, they express how much they love watching our show. They share their emotions, shower us with affection, and wish for our continued success. It is their unwavering support and blessings that motivate us to give our best and bring fresh, engaging stories to the screen each time. (Photo: Instagram)

Team work

The credit goes to the creator of the show “Asit Kumarr Modi” who sits with the writers everyday. Even after 17 years, he still sits with the creative team, he himself is the creator of the show. Woh humesha sabke saath baithe hain, he brainstorms and comes up with new ideas. The writers are also doing a fabulous job as they come up with new scripts and then we spice up the scenes with improvisations. This is the result of an excellent team work. (Photo: Instagram)

To get success is easy but to maintain the same is very difficult

Absolutely! It feels like a remarkable achievement to maintain strong viewership even after 17 years of the show. I believe that achieving success is easy, but sustaining it over time is the real challenge. We have proven that it’s not just about attaining success; the real accomplishment lies in maintaining it. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a household favorite, enjoyed by audiences across all generations. This only adds to our responsibility to continue entertaining future generations just as we have delighted their parents and siblings. (Photo: Instagram)
