On lockdown

I am not that active on social media usually, so whenever I get time, I try and post things on social media. This lockdown has worked for me because I have got a chance to look after myself and give time. After coming out of Bigg Boss, things did not look very different during the lockdown as we have got used to live in this circumstances with limited stuff. Yes, but things have started to get a little difficult now as there is no househelp aur jhaadu poocha kar karke haalat kharab hogayi hai...I am working out during this break as I had got a bit unfit due to an injury. Now, the injury has healed, so am working on myself. I am learning guitar, reading books, watching films so there are a lot of things to do. (Photo: Instagram)

His struggle period

I have gone through a lot of struggle because when I started my journey I was clueless how to go about it. There were so many auditions happening and I used to be puzzled where should I start from. There were so much competition because the role you are eyeing for, thousand other people are giving auditions. I think when you start enjoying and learning from this struggle period you will be able to survive in the industry for a longer period and it is important also. As far as I am concerned, mere paas peeche mud ke jaane ka koi option tha nahi... I had seen a struggling life in my village also, so I was not taken aback because of that phase and was prepared for it. I knew that I will have to work hard. When I landed here, I learnt that there have been many shortcomings and I will have to work hard on myself. My entire focus shifted towards working on myself and I realised that during the struggle period. (Photo: Instagram)

I used to walk from one place to another for auditions

There was a lot of struggle definitely there were times when I did not have money to travel for auditions. I would walk for hours from one place to another to reach for my auditions. I would eat once in the evening directly after morning because I had no money. I used to say in 1 room kitchen with four people because I could not afford giving Rs 8000 as rent and we all know Mumbai is an expensive city. We have to go through all these pain because what your are running after is a very big thing. We did not have money to travel back home, so we would go in between audition to a mall, change our clothes and head for other audition (laughs). So, after doing all that, today when I have reached here I am enjoying it. (Photo: Instagram)

I faced rejections because of my diction and poor English during my initial days

I think rejections have made me perfect, I would say. I faced a lot of rejections in life right from my village to here in Mumbai. Whenever I got rejected I always told myself I don't have to listen to them and why are they even talking. I always took rejections and worked on it when they were for my betterment. It is also important who is rejecting you. Like if someone rejected me by saying that my diction was not right, I knew it was my problem and I will have to work on it because I am going to be a part of medium which requires me to speak clearly and fluently. I came from Bihar, so I faced a lot of rejections because of my diction, poor English and being desi and my attitude. But see, now I have managed to play a musician in Kulfi Kumar Bajewala, a prince in Chandrakanta and a psycho lover in Begusarai, had I not gone through those rejections, I would have not been able to play those roles. I got the opportunity and I proved my talent by grooming myself and working hard on myself. I am still working on it and I want to play all the characters in the world and it shouldn't matter how I speak in personal life, but on-screen I should be able to play those roles. On his equation with Shivangi

We were very raw during that project and it was the initial stages of her career. It was our first big project and we had fun shooting. I still address her as 'biwi' (wife) because she played my wife in the show. We shared a great bond. Her mom is so loving she used to cook food for her and get a separate tiffin for me every day because she got to know that I like ghar ka khana (home made food). She knew that I am living alone here without my family, so she would get me food daily and she loves me a lot. I call her maasi or sometimes I call her by name Yashodha (smiles). My bond with Shivangi is very friendly, comforting and different. She is a good friend of mine," shared Vishal. (Photo: Instagram)

On doing a show with Shivangi Joshi

Even we loved our chemistry a lot in the show Begusarai. Ek alag mazaa tha uss show mein kaam karne ka (we had a lot of fun while working on the show). I believe when you have a good co-actor, your work also enhances and I was lucky to have a co-star like Shivangi. I had a great comfort level with Shivangi. But it is not in our hands to work together, only time and producers can decide it. I would definitely like to work with her again. (Photo: Instagram)

On friendship with Arti Singh

I am connected with my Bigg Boss 13 inmates. I speak to Arti Singh, had called her on birthday also. We had met at Shefali's party also. (Photo: Instagram)

On bond with Paras, Mahira

There are so many funny memories with Paras inside the Bigg Boss 13 house, I can't pick one now. We used to pull Mahira's leg a lot. We also used to purposely instigate Shefali Bagga, when she spoke to me, Paras would interfere in the conversation and if she spoke to him, I would interrupt. So, we kept doing all this. We are still in touch with Mahira and Paras. (Photo: Instagram)

On Irrfan Khan being his inspiration

I will get emotional talking about Irrfan Khan sir. He has always been my inspiration. He brought an ease to every actor's life. He will always be my inspiration, he can never leave me. He is a legend, he can never leave us and go anywhere, he will always stay with us. There are a few people who you never meet personally in life, but when they leave you and go, it feels as if you have lost someone special. Aisa lagta hai jaise mere andar kuch toot gaya hai...joh judeega nahi. (Photo: Instagram)

On Asim and his friendship

I don't know how many times I've answered this, yes, I am in touch with Asim. We are not those people who will call each other and then take a screen shot and share on Insta stories. We are not that kinds. We talk to each other through messages and ask All good bhai! Allah Hafiz. I message him and ask him, "hope things are good at your end, take care of you darling, will meet soon. We are friends and will be friends forever and why won't we be? bolne ke liye dosti nahi hai humari ke aaj hai aur kal khatam hogayi. (Photo: Instagram)

On equations in the Bigg Boss house

See everyone needs to understand that if Bigg Boss house was about maintaining relationships and bonds then there won't be any fights. It is a show, a competition where each contestant comes with an aim to win. All these leads to fights and whatever you see in 1 hour is not the entire truth and it doesn't mean that all the contestants only keep fighting. There's no one in the world who is completely perfect and has no flaws. Everyone has their flaws after all we all are human beings. (Photo: Instagram)
