From 8 years age gap between them to how they finalised their son Nirvair's name; TV couple Kishwer Merchant and Suyyash Rai open up about their love story and parenthood phase

Kishwer Merchant and Suyyash Rai have been part of the TV industry for a while now and have done several hit shows. The TV couple became household names after participating in Bigg Boss 9, where their relationship became a major highlight. They got married in 2016 after dating for several years. In 2021, they welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Nirvair. Recently, Kishwer and Suyyash both joined Rubina Dilaik for her podcast, where they spoke about their personal lives, their parenting journey and the 8-year age gap between them. (Photo: Instagram)

Kishwer: Yes, motherhood has brought crazy changes. I was mentally very strong earlier but now that thing had gone. I have become a different person. I can cry easily and sometimes I get angry on myself that how can such a small thing can make me cry so easily but I've become extra sensitive. (Photo: Instagram)

Kishwer: I was telling my yoga instructor recently that I used to be so thin earlier that there were many things which I used to not do which I'm doing now. So I'm probably not skinny but I'm absolutely fit. I also wanted this and my whole motto after Nirvair was this only that I should be able to play with him and can run around with him and do everything and for that, I need to be fit more than being thin, skinny or size zero. Suyyash: It was not just her only who got pregnant. I was equally pregnant with her, weight-wise also. Like my mom sent gond ke ladoos and she did not eat so I had to finish it. I touched 103 kgs. I was fat. I gained a lot of weight. But then once I was on a weighing machine and I saw it is 102.8 kgs and I thought what have I done to myself. (Photo: Instagram)

Suyyash: We were enjoying our phase so much that it didn't really bother us. Karan Wahi used to visit us and he used to tell us what are you guys doing? He told me chal usko toh theek Hai woh maa ban rahi hai tu kya kar raha hai.. but when Nirvair started running and one day I was running with him, I realised I had to work hard. Kishwer: For us our pregnancy was very difficult. When we came to know that we are pregnant immediately after one week my mom happened to get covid and then she was hospitalized and was there for 23 days. (Photo: Instagram)

Suyyash adds, "Then in April I got COVID and it was her 4th month. I'll tell you how I got it. So I was helping Sonu Sood sir in Covid cases. I must have sorted around 1000 cases in 4-5 months. We did everything from airlifts to giving other helps. It was the best thing I did in those few months. Even like actor Aniruddh Dave he was in Bhopal we got him airlift and we were the ones who planned everything and it was happening from my end. (Photo: Instagram)

Suyyash: When I was quarantined during COVID-19 and was locked in my studio, she used to text that I'm very scared and I couldn't sleep. So I sent her Ik Onkar main roz sun kar sota tha raat mein. Within 15 minutes she replied saying if it's a boy we will name him Ik Onkar. (Photo: Instagram)

Kishwer said, "I heard and said Nirvair and thought iska Matlab kya hota hai, I googled and it meant no enmity, without hatred. I messaged him and he said I loved it. We had shortlisted two names agar ladka hota toh Nirvair aur ladki hoti toh Alezey because we wanted one Muslim name and one Punjabi name. Toh joh bhi hoga aisa hota." (Photo: Instagram)

Kishwer: Woh bolte hain na jab boys chote hain they are for their mommies but he is a baba fan. He is a Ranbir Kapoor from Animal. Every time I see them together I start singing the song. When he is singing he just keeps looking at him. (Photo: Instagram)

Suyyash: Yes, it is 8 years. It is a plus for us. She has never made me feel like that. Frankly minus tab hota when she would have made me feel like that. She never acted like I was younger than her and she is older than me. In these 14 years, I don't remember a single moment that I felt that it is happening because she was older than me. Not even I could say, in fact, at times I feel I'm the older one. We have balanced that pretty well. It's okay if I'm 30 and I behave like that it's normal if I behave my age, and if she is 38 she will behave that age. Whether taking care of her or any other thing. (Photo: Instagram)
