From mindful portions to intermittent fasting: When Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's Munmun Dutta gave a peek into her disciplined diet and daily routine

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actress Munmun Dutta, who is popularly known as Babita Ji from the show, is one of the fittest actresses of the television industry. The actress pays extra attention to her diet and fitness and has managed to look the same over the years. In one of her old Vlogs on her YouTube channel, she spoke about following intermittent fasting and shared the idea behind consuming mindful portions of food. Let's take a look at what Munmun Dutta eats every day to maintain a fit body and look stunning.

2/10

Daily routine

The actress started the video by explaining her daily routine and shared, "I usually wake up around 5:30 in the morning and head straight to the gym. The first thing I do after waking up is drink plenty of water, as it helps activate the body. Then I get ready for my workout."

3/10

One banana every day

Next, in the video she revealed that she eats one banana every day, before hitting the gym. She said, "Before leaving for the gym, I eat one banana. In fact, even on days when I don’t work out, I still follow this habit. About 15–20 minutes after waking up, I make sure to eat a banana, and only after that do I have my breakfast." Munmun also shared that not just a banana but she also eats soaked dry fruits as part of her pre gym ritual, "Along with the banana, I also have a small quantity of soaked almonds or other dry fruits. Today, I’m having a few almonds and pistachios. So my pre-gym meal is simple—one banana with a handful of dry fruits, and that’s all."

Munmun reveals what she eats in her breakfast

The actress shared that she prefers home-cooked breakfasts after her workouts. However, for her timing is very important for any meal. She said, "After my workout, I usually have breakfast, but the timing really matters to me. If I wake up late or end up exercising later than usual, I avoid a heavy meal and sometimes even skip breakfast. On such days, I might just have a glass of milk or a couple of eggs. However, when I work out early, I get enough time to enjoy a proper breakfast. I eat simple homemade food like dosa, poha, upma, or milk with cereal. I always pair my breakfast with plenty of fruits."

5/10

Home cooked meals over anything else

Ahead in the video, Munmun shared that home-cooked meals are the best option for lunch. She said, "It’s lunchtime, and my meals are usually simple, home-cooked food like dal, rice, vegetables, and roti. I don’t eat much roti because I’m more of a rice lover. Being a proud Bengali, rice is a big part of my diet. I always ask my cook to prepare food in a traditional Bengali style. If my mom is around, she guides her, and if not, I do, since I know how to cook most dishes myself."

6/10

Lunch Bengali style food

Further in the video, Mummun described her lunch. "My lunch is quite basic. Today, I’m having masoor dal cooked with panch phoron, which Bengalis will instantly recognize. Along with that, there’s bhindi ki sabzi—I absolutely love bhindi and could eat it every single day. There’s also moolod shaak, which is commonly eaten during winters and is known as mooli ka saag in Hindi. I include two kinds of salads as well, usually made with beetroot, carrot, and cucumber, seasoned lightly with black salt or black pepper and coriander.

7/10

Ghee is important part of her diet

"One thing I never skip with my lunch or dinner is ghee. This is homemade ghee, which I prepare at home along with fresh cream. I strongly believe ghee is an essential part of the diet, as including healthy fats is very important for overall well-being."

8/10

Munmun avoid wheat

The actress revealed the reason behind avoiding wheat, she said, "I usually try to stay away from wheat because it doesn’t suit my digestion very well, but I can’t deny my love for hot parathas. If someone makes them for me, I happily enjoy them. When I’m shooting, I carry my meals in a lunch box, but at home, I like to make my mealtime special. I spread a mat, use glass plates, proper cutlery, and keep water in a glass bottle. Eating this way feels pleasant and refined, and I truly enjoy the experience. I do tend to eat very quickly and don’t chew my food as well as I should, but I’m consciously working on improving that habit."

9/10

Evening snacks

"In the evening, I usually have light snacks like fruits. Today, I’m eating apples and oranges. The oranges had a few dark spots, so I trimmed them and ate the rest because I don’t like wasting food. Along with fruits, I’m also having quinoa. I’ve made a simple masala quinoa with peas, carrots, and a bit of onion. It’s healthy, light, and doesn’t feel heavy at all. I always make sure to eat something before having tea or coffee, as drinking them on an empty stomach can cause acidity, which I’ve experienced myself."

10/10

Munmun comfort food for dinner

"When it’s time for dinner, my meal is usually similar to lunch. I often choose dal khichdi, which is a big comfort food for me. Even when I’m travelling for events and staying at a five-star hotel, if someone asks me what I’d like to eat at night, my answer is always dal khichdi. It’s healthy, easy to digest, and feels very light."
