From the team sharing one vanity to old vs new ACP; Parth Samthaan gets candid about his experience on shooting for CID

Parth Samthaan recently won hearts with his character as ACP Ayushman in CID. Though his stint was short, the actor shared some fond memories from the sets. In a candid chat with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Parth shared his experience with the childhood favourite show and more.

On his character in CID

So, there's this show that I'm sure everyone has heard of— the legendary show C.I.D. Yeah. There's a really great character on that show, obviously legendary again—ACP Pradyuman. Unfortunately, in the show, his character passed away. The plot goes like this: there's a villain named Barbosa, played by Timanshu Dhulia, and the team ends up killing him. Then they find out someone on the team is actually working with Timanshu. To solve the case, a new ACP is appointed from Delhi, who is the youngest IPS officer. I play that role—ACP Ayushman. I've been lucky enough to work with Daya sir and Abhijeet sir, and it’s so much fun. The show is really entertaining and has great team spirit.

CID team has only one Vanity

The entire CID cops team has a big hall with mirrors all around. There’s a dining table in the middle. They have one vanity room. I’m talking about the guys only. All of them get ready together. The whole CID team gets ready together, sits together, eats together—they spend the whole day in the same place. There’s no other vanity, none at all. Man, what a great system that is.

Unity and positive vibes on the CID set

So, when I came, I came fully prepared because I thought I would have my own vanity. When I came, I saw everything and thought, wow, now we really can't ask for anything more. The unity has to be maintained. But then I was amazed to see that even the female officers were given a vanity, like a makeup room. But when it’s time to eat, they all come here and sit together as a group. And it’s a really good team, very positive, very mature. They always stay away from social media because obviously, they’ve been around since before social media or mobile phones existed.

Haarsh talks about CID spoof, where Bharti played ACP Pradyuman

And even today, if you look at memes here and there, CID still makes an impact. It's all on us kids. Because, bro, I’m a kid, you know, CID—like, what's actually gonna happen? Is he gonna hit him or not? After a point, after like 1,000-15,000 episodes, I also kinda know what's gonna happen next, but I still watch because I enjoy seeing it, like, just before Frederick says something, or something’s about to happen. The writing has actually improved significantly now. I am a huge fan of CID, I’ve spoofed CID on a channel, did like 25 or 50 gags, where ACP Pradyuman was played by Bharti.See more:Parth Samthaan reveals a fan asked him to solve his mother’s ‘murder case’ as he portrayed ACP Ayushmaan in CID 2

Parth on why CID is unique despite others copying the concept

The CID team also said there are lots of shows like that, which I wouldn’t want to name, but they all have the same cases, the same crimes. What the CID people left behind is their signature—their style, their interpersonal relationships, their personality. Because yeah, there are many shows like that, but only a few select shows have that, you know, their style, their vibe.

What makes ACP Ayushman different from the CID team

I was also asked, Will you do it too? Daya pata lagao? Kuch toh gadbad hai!. I didn’t say all this, I’m not gonna do all that because there has to be some difference, right? In this new ACP role, right now, the character is defined as the current ACP. This character is someone who believes more in cybercrime technology, advanced tech and all, not so much in going out on the streets and talking to people. Did you see that? Did you notice it?

8/8

Old vs new ACP

There’s even a line about that. Abhijeet sir and Daya sir go out to talk to people on the ground, and they say, "I’ll keep talking to them until then." I tell them, "If you go out and ask people, our case might get leaked. That could mess up our case." Then they say, "Sir, we have technology, and with technology, the case can be solved. We don’t need to go anywhere." They say, "Before technology came, we used to solve problems by talking to people." I was like, "Yeah." Then I told Daya, "Abhijeet, that’s the old way, the old style."
