Gaurav Gera: Kiku Sharda is a fun guy, but in a 24-hour show you can’t be funny all the time
The recently launched reality show Rise and Fall, hosted by Ashneer Grover, has been drawing attention since its premiere. Among the contestants is comedian-actor Kiku Sharda, who is giving viewers a glimpse of a side rarely seen on stage or screen.
Kiku’s long-time friend and fellow comedian Gaurav Gera, who has known him for over two decades, shares his perspective on Kiku’s journey. Gaurav says, “Definitely, Kiku is a fun guy, but in a 24-hour show you can’t be funny all the time. People will get to see his human side, his wise side, as well as his intelligent side. Comedy gives you a different image, but as a person, Kiku is very bright and intelligent.”
Reflecting on Kiku’s adaptability in the game, he adds, “I think the rich house definitely suits Kiku, but he is also enjoying living on the other side. Kiku understands that there is a brighter side to both situations, even though each comes with its own limitations. He is a rockstar and will continue to shine like one.”
Their friendship dates back to 2004 when the two worked together on The Great Indian Comedy Show. “We did a TV show together in 2004, so our friendship is 21 years old. Even back then, I admired him as both an actor and a person on The Great Indian Comedy Show. We have been friends ever since,” Gaurav says.
He also mentions that the bond between them has only grown stronger with time. “We have always stayed in touch, and before he entered the house, we spoke. I’m glad he is playing so well, it’s smooth, fun to watch, and he truly is the right choice for this show. This platform is perfect for him too.”
Along with Kiku, Rise and Fall features celebs like Arjun Bijlani, Dhanashree Verma, Aahana Kumra, and Kubbra Sait, Aditya Narayan and Sangeeta Phogat, each navigating the game’s shifting dynamics between the rich and poor houses.
