The actor says, “I went bald 11 years ago and people have not let me grow my hair ever since! I have been offered characters that require me to retain the look. I remember precisely the date when I went bald. It was on December 22, 2010 for the character of

Chanakya

in Chandragupta Maurya. To be honest, I wasn’t ready to shave my head and contemplated it till two hours before my call time. The producers weren’t too keen on me wearing prosthetics. I loved my hair and wondered what would happen to my career if I went bald. However, I went ahead with it for the love of my craft. I thought ki nahi work kiya toh chhe mahine mein baal phir aa jaayenge. It’s been 11 years since and main tab se baal uga hi

While adopting a look for so long can get any actor stereotyped, Manish feels that it has only led to him bagging more offers. “Till this look is working, it’s fine. Baal wala role hoga tab wapas ugaa lenge (smiles). Staying bald has never hampered my career,” says the actor, who is now also gearing up for his debut in Telugu cinema with a film titled Shyam Singha Roy.
