Though most people visit gyms to shape their bodies, for some, like Mukund Kapahi, it can also be a place to shape their dreams. Acting wasn’t initially on his agenda when he travelled with his father to Mumbai for a two-day business trip. However, fate intervened when he met actor Ankit Gera at a gym and was inspired to take it up as a profession. As they say, the rest is history. Since then, he has done cameos in several shows, including Pishachini, Spy Bahu, Shubh Laabh -- Aapkey Ghar Main, Nima Denzongpa, and Kabhi Kabhie Ittefaq Sey. He is all set to enter the long-running show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.

Last seen in Ek Sindoor Ki Keemat, Mukund tells us, “I play Kairav (Abheer Singh Godhwani)’s friend, who is jealous of him and wants to ruin his business. The cast is humble and welcoming, and the directors are nice and lenient. Of course, it will be a challenge to establish myself amidst already accepted faces, but I will try my best to impress the audience with my acting. I have an interesting track. I am nervous and excited at the same time.”

In his previous show, too, he was seen as a negative character. So, what does he like to play? “I was positive in Kaamnaa. Actually, I like exploring both shades. Having said that, playing a negative character is more challenging, as I have to do mean things to good people, which I don’t do in real life,” he replies.

Mukund with Ankit Gera

Talking about his unplanned entry into showbiz, Mukund says, “I am from Delhi and came to Mumbai in 2020 with my dad for a business deal. I happened to go to a gym, where I bumped into Ankit Gera. He told me about his training in an acting school. On a whim, I decided to see the school and ended up doing a three-month course in acting. Though the trip was for just two days, I made Mumbai my new home by becoming a part of showbiz overnight. I am glad I joined this profession.”

The growth has been gradual, and his journey as an artiste eventful so far. However, he aspires to play more meaningful characters in the future. “In the beginning, it was just about getting as much work as possible. However, now I want to do good work. I would like to play the lead character in the future,” says the actor, who has also been part of Kaamnaa and Naagin 6.
