If they reopen Dubai airport, I will return: Rohan Gandotra
As tensions escalate between the US–Israel alliance and Iran, the ripple effects are being felt far beyond the immediate conflict zone. Airspace disruptions and temporary airport closures across parts of the Middle East have left several Indians stranded in Dubai. Among them is television actor Rohan Gandotra, who was in the city for a professional commitment.
Rohan arrived in Dubai 10 days ago for a music video shoot and is scheduled to return to India on March 8. He said, “If they reopen the airport, I will return. Otherwise, I’ll have to figure something out.”
Recounting the night tensions escalated, the actor shared, “I’m staying across Burj Khalifa, and when we got to know that Iran had started bombing Dubai, we were shocked. Around midnight, we began hearing explosive sounds in the air. I also saw large plumes of smoke in the distance. It was scary. The next day, I was told the sounds were of interceptions.” He added, “I started overthinking because I’m in another country. I didn’t know who would help if things went out of hand. I trust the government here, but it’s still very scary. Life is so fragile and uncertain.”
For now, Rohan has chosen to remain indoors. “I’m not stepping out. Some people are going out, but I don’t want to take that risk. Private offices and schools are shut here. I have been receiving many calls from family and friends and I am telling them not to worry,” said Rohan.
