Indian Idol 16: Shreya Ghoshal shares the memory of her first meeting with Lata Mangeshkar; says 'the first meeting was a darshan of Lata Didi for me'
The Indian Idol 16's has been entertaining the audience with soulful singing and extraordinary talent from across India. The season which is themed as the ‘Yaadon Ki Playlist’ will witness its musical tribute to Lata Mangeshkar in the upcoming episode. The episode celebrates the golden period of Indian music. Lata ji, who the world knows as the Nightingale of India for her everlasting music brought Indian cinema to its greatest heights. Honoured with Bharat Ratna and the Padma Bhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award highlights her exceptional musical achievements.
Shreya Ghoshal will deliver an emotional tribute through her special performance which includes the classic song 'Yeh Sama Hai Pyaar Ka' from Jab Jab Phool Khile to honor the late music master. As Shreya lit the ceremonial lamp and sang the classic melody, she was visibly overwhelmed, creating a deeply moving moment on stage.
Shreya shared an emotional memory of her first meeting with Lata Mangeshkar. She said, “Dear Lata Didi, like every singer, I too consider you my idol. Once it so happened that I was recording somewhere, and in that studio, Lata Didi also came to record. As soon as I came to know this, I was so scared that my focus was not at all, and the recordist only said, let's do the recording tomorrow, go and meet Didi today. I ran to Lata Didi and wanted to say a lot, but before that, she said, Shreya, I have heard your songs, you sing very well. So the first meeting with her was not a meeting; it was a darshan of Lata Didi for me.”
