India's Got Latent Controversy: Supreme Court rejects Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani's request to release their passports
The India's Got Latent scandal, which originally broke out in February 2025, still holds the spotlight. In the recent turn of events, YouTubers Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani, who were two of the major accused in the case, have moved the Supreme Court to seek the release of their passports. But the court has postponed their plea, indicating that the issue will be heard only after the current investigation is complete.
While that was happening, another defendant in the scandal, Apoorva Mukhija, known as The Rebel Kid, has made a radical move by wiping clean her Instagram account.
As per a NDTV report, the Supreme Court has declined to give away the passports of Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani on the grounds that it might jeopardize the probe if they were allowed to go abroad. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta updated the court that the plea could be re-heard within two weeks when the probe reaches a conclusive point.
Ranveer Allahbadia, in his plea, argued that without his passport, he is unable to travel for his international shows, which is significantly affecting his livelihood. However, the court remained firm in its decision, stating that the investigation must take precedence. Similarly, Ashish Chanchlani’s plea to retrieve his passport was also rejected.
Earlier this month, the Supreme Court had given Ranveer go-ahead to restart his podcasts but had also asked him to uphold "morality and decency" in them. Meanwhile, as legal action is still ongoing, another surprise came from Apoorva Mukhija. The influencer, who has been at the center of the controversy, has wiped her Instagram clean by removing all her posts, including sponsorships.
JIndia's Got Latent controversy originally broke out on February 10, 2025, initiating huge debates in the nation. Although information on the case is still under investigation, the social media and legal responses from those involved still generate public interest.
With the Supreme Court holding firm on the passport aspect and Apoorva Mukhija's recent social media cleanup, the case is far from being closed. Everyone now looks to the coming weeks as the authorities continue with their investigation and the accused wait for their destiny.
