I’ve struggled to reach where I am today and I will make the most of this opportunity, says Harphoul Mohini actress Nupur Yadav
After doing roles in episodes of Savdhaan India and Crime Patrol, Nupur Yadav has bagged her first daily soap, Harphoul Mohini. The actress is excited about playing a pivotal character in her first family drama on TV. She says, “I play Ragini, a Haryanvi girl and will be initially seen at loggerheads with Mohini (Shagun Sharma). Ragini will be shown tormenting Mohini. However, she will become Mohini’s biggest support when the latter turns the life of her truant son Bhupsingh around.”
Nupur has had an interesting journey so far. The girl from Pune participated in Pune Times Fresh Face in 2013. After completing her studies, she moved to Mumbai to try her luck in acting. She shares, “After Fresh Face, I started getting a lot of offers for modelling. However, my parents wanted me to complete my graduation. Later, I pursued MBA in HR and moved to Mumbai around seven years ago. I started with catalogue shoots and then joined an event management company. I worked with them for nine months. My responsibility was to make sure that everything was in place when a celebrity was performing abroad. I started cultivating contacts and got into acting eventually. I began with episodes in Savdhaan India and Crime Patrol. So, Harphoul Mohini is a big break. It is my first daily soap. I have struggled a lot. I had no knowledge of how to go about things and no help either. But I am grateful to Prashant Joshi sir, who is the casting head of the show for trusting in my ability to pull off this character. Apparently, he had liked an audition of mine years ago but somehow couldn’t reach me. Maybe, it wasn’t destined to happen then. There is a right time for everything.”
Nupur is also grateful for her exposure during her participation in Fresh Face and while working with the event management company. She says, “Fresh Face gave me a lot of confidence, especially to perform in front of a live audience. I have learnt a lot while observing other celebrities perform. It has taught me what needs to be done when I am facing the camera. Some actors are so lost that they don’t even understand camera angles and the director’s vision. You have to be very spontaneous and understand certain things without being told. I have learnt all of that during my years of struggle.”
