Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin’s Mona Singh reveals how she met her husband Shyam; says ‘He wasn’t the chasing type, so I did a bit'

In a heartwarming episode of Farah Khan’s cooking vlog, actress Mona Singh—best known as the iconic Jassi from Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin—got candid about her love story, marriage, and the little moments that shaped her bond with husband Shyam Gopalan. From revealing who made the first move to discussing their outdoor adventures and bond over food, Mona shared personal anecdotes that gave fans a peek into her off-screen life.

Mona revealed that she met her now-husband, Shyam, at a friend’s birthday party about six years ago. The couple, married for five years now, instantly hit it off that evening. Interestingly, Mona shared that Shyam wasn’t the romantic, chase-you-until-you-fall kind of guy. “He wasn’t the chasing type, so I did a bit,” she said with a laugh. Shyam works in the same industry, creating long-format advertisements.

Farah Khan recalled her first memory of Mona Singh back in 2004, when Mona was co-hosting a beauty pageant with Farah’s brother Sajid Khan. At the time, Farah had just wrapped up directing Main Hoon Na and appeared as one of the judges at the event. That early glimpse sparked a long-lasting bond that eventually turned into a food-fueled friendship during their time on television together.

Mona and Farah bonded deeply during their five seasons together on Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega. Mona fondly recalled how her mother would send chhole kulche daily, while Farah spoiled her with roast chicken and biryani. The duo’s connection was as much about shared laughter as it was about shared meals—making food a big part of their behind-the-scenes friendship.

Talking about her married life, Mona said, “Shaadi shuda wali feeling achhi hi hai.” She debunked the famous saying about marriage being a regretful journey, affirming instead that she doesn’t regret it one bit. Mona added that being married to someone who shares your vibe makes the whole experience feel grounded and fulfilling. “Main nahi pachtarahi,” she said, smiling.

Mona described Shyam as her best friend and a chilled-out person who shares her love for the outdoors. From hiking to road trips, the couple enjoys spending quality time doing simple, shared activities. She emphasized that their compatibility and mutual respect have been the cornerstones of their happy marriage. “We like to do similar things… I am an outdoor person, and so is my husband,” she said.

Mona tied the knot with Shyam in December 2019. She previously told Bombay Times that she felt no pressure to marry young. “We’re living in a new world where there is no age to get married,” she explained. For Mona, marrying at the right time meant choosing love with clarity and maturity. “You get married now because you want to and because you think it is time,” she concluded.
