Karan Johar got everyone's attention today (May 4) after he announced that his popular chat show
Koffee With Karan will not return on TV. However, there's a new twist to it. The show will now air on the OTT platform of the channel on which it aired previously.
In another note he posted in the evening, Karan shared that
KWK
will make a return but on a digital platform. He added that the show will continue to host popular celebs who will spill the beans on the couch, clarify rumours and also play games.
Karan's note read, "Koffee With Karan will not be returning...on TV! Because every great story needs a good twist, I'm delighted to announce that Season 7 of Koffee With Karan will stream exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar! The biggest movie stars from across India will return to the couch to spill the beans while drinking some Koffee. There will be games, there will be rumours put to rest - and there will be conversations that go deep, about love, loss and everything we've been through over the last few years. Koffee With Karan, 'streaming' soon only on Disney+ Hotstar. Toodles! - Karan Johar."
Earlier today, Karan left many fans of the chat show disappointed after he announced that Koffee With Karan won't return.
He wrote, "Koffee With Karan has been a part of my life, and yours, for 6 seasons now. I would like to think we have made an impact and even found our place in pop culture history. And so, it is with a heavy heart that I announce that Koffee With Karan will not be returning."
It is speculated that newly married Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt will be the first guests on the show. Besides them, the expected list of guests include names like Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, Neetu Singh, and Sidharth Malhotra, Katrina Kaif, and Siddhant Chaturvedi.
