Kaun Banega Crorepati 16: Amitabh Bachchan shares how his mother Teji Bachchan gave up a luxurious life to marry his father Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan
The recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 kicked off with former KBC Junior contestant Arunoday Sharma joining host Amitabh Bachchan to celebrate the show's 25-year milestone. He playfully takes over the show, welcoming the audience with enthusiasm, but is soon interrupted by Big B. The two then decide to start the episode together. Mr Bachchan welcomes Arunoday Sharma on the show as part of their special segment 'Kahani Jeet Ki' as a guest. The host shares that Arunoday was a participant on the show in 2021 and he changed the entire atmosphere when he took over the hotseat.
Big B plays a special video highlighting Arunoday Sharma's journey after his appearance on the show. The clip showcases how his life took a remarkable turn, making him an overnight sensation in Shimla. Arunoday shares that he sometimes finds it hard to believe the incredible moments he experienced with host Amitabh Bachchan, feeling as if he is still living a dream. He credits KBC for giving him a new life beyond his imagination. His newfound fame even made it difficult for him to step out of his house. His proud parents express their joy over his achievements, including receiving multiple awards, one of which was presented by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.
Host Amitabh Bachchan and Arunoday discuss how he became Shimla's superstar after his participation on KBC Juniors. He then shared a few hilarious disadvantages and advantages of being a celebrity. At first he talks about the perks of being a celebrity about how everyone treats him as a VIP. He also reveals that now he doesn't have to buy Himachali caps and shawls as he gets them free of cost from admirers. Hearing this Big B burst into laughter.
Arunoday goes on to share that he has attended nearly 100 interviews and conferences so far, and being on camera means he can’t repeat his outfits. Jokingly, he says, "Log sochenge iske paas toh naye kapde hi nahi hai, wohi same kapde pehan liya. Is wajah se mere kapdon ka budget bahot badh gaya hai." He also reveals another amusing downside of his newfound fame—constantly having to smile for photos with admirers, which can be quite exhausting
He playfully asks Amitabh Bachchan for tips on maintaining a constant smile while posing for back-to-back photos with fans. He curiously questions, "Aapko itni saari photos click karani padti hai, hamesha muskurana padta hai... Kya aapke jabdon mein dard nahi hota itna zyada smile karne se?" This leaves everyone, including Big B, in splits. The host says he can't reveal the trick as he would get caught.
As part of the Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 Junior Special tradition, Arunoday playfully asks the computer to "scan" Amitabh Bachchan's brain. In a fun segment, he humorously "reveals" some unknown and quirky facts about the megastar. The folder about Big B's life is named 'Inspiration' which has his parents photos. While talking about his mother and father, Big B reveals, "Ye humara bahot bada saubhagya hai Maa, Babuji se humein jitna bhi prapt hua woh sab unki wajah se mila hai. Alag alag tarah ke sanskaar humein mile dono se. Babuji joh the unke paas joh saadhan the, joh vyavastha thi Uttar Pradesh se jahan se the woh, naukri karte the, padhate the tuition wagera karte the woh. Maaji joh thi woh ek bahot he bade parivaar se thi, Aalishaan unka rehna sehna, woh sab kuch chod ke joh hai maaji ne babuji se byah kiya. Kuch mujhe sanskaar Maaji se mila, kuch Babuji se mila. Joh bhi mila woh unn dono ka mishran mila aur woh bahot he sundar raha humare liye. Isliye aaj joh kuch bhi hain hum inhe ke wajah se hain."
(It is our great fortune that whatever we have received in life is because of our parents. Both of them instilled different values in us. My father had limited resources—he worked, taught tuition, and managed things in his own way. On the other hand, my mother came from a very affluent family, living a grand and luxurious lifestyle. Yet, she left everything behind to marry my father. Some values I inherited from my mother, and some from my father. The blend of both shaped me beautifully. Whatever I am today is because of them.)
When Arunoday asks Big B about one lesson from his parents that he still follows in life, the megastar recites his father’s profound words: "Mann ka ho toh accha, naa ho toh aur accha." He explains that if things go according to one’s wishes, it’s good, but if they don’t, it’s even better—because that means God has a greater plan in store.
Big B goes on to recall an incident from his childhood when he was severely scolded by his parents for his behavior.
Big B reminisced about a childhood incident when he faced a harsh scolding from his parents. He shared, "During the first rains of the season, my friends and I would play outside, getting completely drenched. We would run around, throw mud at each other, and create a mess all over the house. When my parents saw the chaos and asked who was responsible, I had to clean up everything. That was the worst scolding I ever received."
