Quiz-based reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 has kept fans hooked with its entertaining episodes. A recent episode of the show has sparked widespread controversy after contestant Ishit Bhatt went viral on X (formerly Twitter) for his behaviour. He was on the hot seat with host Amitabh Bachchan, where he was seen asking him not to give options and just lock the answer. Viewers are calling him out for his behaviour and have labeled him as “rude” and “arrogant.” In response, playback singer and voice artist Chinmayi Sripaada has reacted to it.
The singer took to her X handle, asking the viewers to stop bullying the young contestant. She wrote, “An adult putting a tweet saying most hated kid. Adults here on Twitter have been one of the most lousy, foul-mouthed, abusive lot; none of these voices said a thing when kids died due to a cough syrup.”
She further said, “But yeah, pick on a kid. Says a LOT about the ecosystem. This entire lot is picking on one over-excited kid. What a horrible bunch of bullies they’ve raised themselves to be.”
In a viral video, Ishit Bhatt asked Amitabh Bachchan not to explain the rules as he knows them already. He said, “Mere ko rule pata hain isiliye aap abhi mereko rules samjhaane mat baithna” (I already know the rules, so there’s no need to explain them).
Later, when Amitabh Bachchan asked him the Rs 25,000 question about the Ramayana, Ishit asked for the options but then kept interrupting the host, repeatedly saying, “Arre lock karo!” (Just lock it!). Sadly, he got the answer wrong and left the show without winning any money. Some viewers thought he was too overconfident, while others felt the teasing was too harsh for a child on a family show.
Many netizens took to X to express their opinions. Some wrote, “The kid is just excited; no need to be so harsh,” while others commented, “This is exactly what happens when overconfidence meets pressure on a live show.” Another user said, “Ishit may have been rude, but trolling a child publicly is not acceptable.” Overall, reactions were divided between criticism for his attitude and concern over the treatment of a young contestant.
